[Best Buy] Computervalley: Antennas Direct DB4e Antenna $45.00+shipping

Computervalley is currently selling the Antennas Direct DB4e Antenna for $45.00 plus shipping. I believe shipping is around $10. Also, see this link if you want it even cheaper with free delivery. I must admit though that I have never heard of Hookbag.ca before. Thanks G20tKD for the link.

Updated on 01.14.2013 - It appears that Best Buy too has started selling these now. It may be wiser to buy from them since returns are much easier compared to lesser known online retailers with no storefront. Thanks PozzyD for the info.

Good for UHF.

Great price for what is supposed to be an excellent antenna. I had already ordered two from the US. Dang it!

This is supposed to be better than DB4. I would have given a digitalhome.ca forum link but I just couldn't find one that delt exclusively with this particular antenna. As for recommending one, I am not in a position to do so since I don't own one myself.

in my own experience, the db4 (older model) is a very good jack-of-all-trade antenna. i have been able to get some vhf-low signal (i.e., global in ottawa, channel 6) with it.
it works very well in an attic.
i cannot fathom how the db4e could be worse.
i would say that 45cad is a good price for what you get.

the "main" antennas direct discussion on digitalhome.ca is:
http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=41076

there are few a-d "hacking" discussions in the "engineering" forum, like:
http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=124306
and
http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=111398

cheers.

+1, was wondering the same thing.

I'm currently using Terk HDTV amplified antenna, but was contemplating to go for something more "advanced" - is this a worthy upgrade?

Or take this one, for example - http://www.factorydirect.ca/catalog/pro ... ode=KR0008
How is DB4e better? (Kross one isn't amplified, but I could use the signal amplifier from the Terk antenna)

This is like 10x better than any indoor antenna.

The kross isn't even for NA frequencies of the past 30 years.
The db4e is specifically designed for the current frequencies in use - roughly half the range of the kross ( more focused=better gain on the useful channels)

yes

Range: Up to 65+ miles
• Peak gain: 14.5 dBi
• Front to back ratio greater than 18 dBi
• Strong performance across UHF DTV spectrum
• Succeeds in difficult areas
• All weather Balun included
• Flexible aiming characteristics, 60˚ beam-width
• Works great in attics

The Kross is a clone. The Antenna Direct is a BIG brand name. You get what you pay for with antennas. Having said that, if you live near the transmitter like the CN tower ... the clone would probably be OK for you. If you live further out, I personally would buy the brand name as every little bit of signal can be the difference between watching TV or not.

P.S. I have a look at the recommended site but if it checks out ... I'm gonna grab me one. Has anyone bought from that Co. before?

There's a thread in the OTA - Digitalhome website, http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=41076,
check around the middle of the pages where people talk about this antenna.
