Condom Users!!! (Work safe discussion only)
I just wanted to share my new found info with everyone. I've used many different brands and styles of condoms, always trying to attain the most natural feel. Note that all the products I have used have been available locally in drug stores and the such.
The other day my gf and I decided to try the polyurethane versions, particularly the Durex Avanti. They are rather expensive, costing maybe 2-3 times as much as their latex competitors, but they offer a few advantages.
First, if you are allergic to latex, this is an alternative. It also claims to be much thinner since polyurethane is a stronger material more resistant to rips. The last claim is that it allows for better heat transfer than latex.
Initial Impression: First from taking it out, you will notice that in general, it is less stretchy than latex, although it still has some give to it. It also has a much different feel. It is rather silky feeling, even when unlubed, unlike latex which feels rubbery. The fit of the condom is roomier than normal, since it is less stretchy, but this does not work against its magic. We lubed it with our lube of choice, Astroglide. Note that this polyurethane has almost no scent, compared with smelly latex.
Result: This is by far leaps and bounds above latex condoms! You can actually feel the heat transfer straight through which adds to the experience. The thinness of it makes a huge difference, it feels almost like there's nothing there at all. It also seems to last longer with the lube than latex does, which tends to dry out quickly. Overall, I believe that it is the closest experience to using nothing at all, while still retaining the condom properties of birth control and STI prevention.
I would definitely recommend the Durex Avanti to any condom user. There is also another polyurethane condom out there which I have not tested from Trojan.
Please discuss what you think, and also what brands you have used.
BTW: Don't post here about not using condoms blah blah. We all know it feels better without, but this is a discussion for condoms only.
Please Keep discussion appropriate for a public forum.

I've heard about the Avanti, haven't tried it, but I don't believe it would be that huge a difference. I've seen negative reviews on it as well as your positive one.

In Canada, the official term for STD's is STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection).

Nyte, just curious, but do you know why the Avanti was reviewed poorly? thanks

Heres a review of several Durex ones.
As you've said that you've tried several of them, Im sure you know that they are all fairly similar with some slightly better than others, but its not a world of difference. Thats why I don't think its that much of a difference. If it was truely amazing, one would think that they'd be a lot more well known.

I just think they haven't caught on yet, since they are not as widely available, and 2-3 times more expensive. They also seem marketed more towards people who are allergic to latex.
Big Error in BBC Review : the male reviewer mentions "Perhaps Avanti would be better if used with a lubricant". Sounds like they didn't use any extra lube, except for that already on the condom. I think it is essential you use a good lube with it, as it is under lubed. Lubrication should be applied in small amounts on the inside, and liberally on the outside for maximum effect. I can see how it would feel terrible without.
I don't find much insight into this review, as the reviewers say their mainstay is a standard durex condom. I find those to be ok, but as far as latex goes, I much prefer Kimono Microthins. They are much thinner than Durex Ultra-Sensitives, and the difference can be felt.
Durex U-S < Kimono Microthin < Durex Avanti
If you do get a chance to try a sample, or a small package, do try the Avanti. It doesn't hurt to try it once. Remember, you should always have a good lube on hand such as Astroglide or O My. Stay far, far, far away from KY products.

The Avanti being roomy is a little exaggerated. Is it wider than the standard latex condom? Yes. But it is only about 8-10mm wider in diameter. It's like a tiny fraction larger. If the fit is a little loose, that's ok. It actually works to better the experience, since it creates more "rubbing movement", and it feels leagues better to rub against this silky skin like material instead of latex.
After reading on some other forums, it seems that a lot of people don't consider separate lube an essential when using condoms. It is! Lube dries, and dries especially quick when used with latex. It is a must to have a bottle of lube available. I would definitely recommend Astroglide, as it's formula replicates that of a female's natural lubrication.

I don't think it's a necessity, I guess it depends on the girl though.
For those in Ottawa, you can get as many Lifestyle regular condoms (lubricated and non) as you want for free from the sex clinic on Clarence road (near Byward market, down the street from Space and Lucky Lounge). Yea they're just regular, but they're free and probably won't break if used properly.

I heard the U.S. military sent some 'TOP SECRET military issue ' condoms to their troops overseas.
They're called " STEALTH CONDOMS ".
The military claim is ..." they'll never see you coming ".........I don't know, it sounds like U.S. propaganda to me.
