Configuring a modem through a router
My computer is connected to a router, which is connected to a modem. If I access 192.168.1.1, I get my router. How can I access the modem? The only way I've been able to access it is by connecting it directly to the computer.

Some modems are accessible by 192.168.100.1
Just google your modem's model number and download the manual.

I know what its default IP address is, as I can access it fine when not accessing it through the router.

What do you need to do?
If anything, just connect to your computer directly to the modem and go to start>run, type cmd, then type ipconfig.
Find out your modem's IP, connect to it and do whatever you need to do.
