Connecting External HD to an old TV?

I have an old 27" Toshiba tv with standard three port RCA audio/video input/output options. Am I able to connect my external HD using some sort of USB - RCA cable and watch movies on it?

The storage drive is just that, storage. Unless you have a complete OS on it. What software on your TV would run it

The dvd player plays all formats.

Most likely your DVD player will not be able to read it. You can buy external enclosures that are also media players, which is what you want, but your standard one will not do what you ask.

If yours isn't a media player enclosure then I doubt it...

Yes, this will work on divx/dvd players with usb port. I have a Pioneer DV400 and I can play divx files off the usb key or an externally power usb enclosure.
