This is not something I would say lightly, but it is becoming clear how childish they are behaving lately.
For a brief moment in the last election I was considering voting for them. I ignored the attacks on them from the Liberal government, I paid attention to what was being said, and the conservatives did a wonderful job in making me not want to vote for them...so I didn't.
It is just so annoying being stuck with the Liberals. Almost everyone can agree that they have been in power too long, but the problem is, all the other parties have been doing really stupid things to prove that they are not fit to govern.
The conservatives are now doing it again with gay marriage. I support a civil union and believe that the word "marriage" should be used for the traditional straight couple, I also believe that straight couples have the right to a civil union. This is the apparent stance of the conservatives; however, they come across as insensitive bible thumpers who are defending "christian" values.
I would love to see the liberals out of power, I think many Canadians across the country would love to see them out, it is not just a western thing.
Of course, I get to be in the wonderful riding that Stockwell Day has created, Yay theocracy!
This is no fun for anyone to read so I am going to throw in some extremism just for fun. BC should just seceed from the rest of the country and we can then mobilize an army and capture the rest of canada and make them our slaves. And don't forget... Jesus!, just kidding

As to pathetic I kind of agree with you. They do not impress me particularly.
But if they were "insensitive bible thumpers" they would not support civil unions for gay couples. In fact they would want to make homosexual acts a crime. So could you give some examples of how they are "insensitive bible thumpers"?LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked pgcanred for this post.

You can all thank Brian Baloney from destroying the Progressive Conservative party.
The one viable option that most Canadians would have considered voting for.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked Montague for this post.

before the merger with the alliance, i always considered the PC as an alternative to the liberals and would vote for them, but since their merger with the right wing maniacs at the alliance i will never vote for them with the values they hold now and desired policy direction.

Why does a politics-related thread always get rated 1-star? It could be a good debate, and it hasn't gotten ugly... yet!

The Conservatives did great in BC, Alberta, SK, and Manitoba; just you dang "Fiberals" in Ontario that stopped going to church years ago and only casually accept God in your lives that keep the Martin Gang in power. You guys want so hard to be Quasi American-European Society, in the social and government form ; and frankly that's just out of touch with anyone west of Sudbury. CPC needs to target certain ridings in Ontario better, we get McKay to resell the party to PC faithful in the Maritimes, and It'd be great to see the Conservatives make haedway in Quebec. I mean I don't expect CPC to ever get more then 5-10 ridings in that Province, but who knows. Just, Ontario quit trying to set the tone for the rest of Canada in forcing your Quasi American-European values on on the other 9 Provinces and 3 Territories. What starts in Ontario spreads, and with the subject of Gay Marriage I guess we can "thank" you you setting the stage to where other provinces would be comfortable doing so. Bring back Mike Harris and give that province a Double-Dosage of "Common Sense"!Last edited by neilson; Feb 1st, 2005 at 11:44 AM.

No problem, you're welcome actually!
Neilson, shouldn't you be preparing for the next attack from BinLaden, instead of visiting these little ole Canadian forums? I predict that America will be attacked on the homeland by Iraqis... are u prepared for that too?
What state are you from anyways?_______________

I am from the great state of Alabama, which if we're lucky enough will have former Judge Roy Moore as our Conservative Republican Governor in 2 years.

I mean, as a Republican I will either vote for him or we can choose to vote for our lying, scum-bag, in bed with the Teacher's Union(AEA) and Trial Lawyer, Fiberal Democrat that is Don Siegelman.

And if neither fancy your plate, then you could protest vote in the Libertarian Party, or if he FINALLY decides, then vote for Sir Charles:

Affiliation with Mike Harris = instant political death, on a federal level. Not that I considered voting Conservative at any point, but that was definitely the nail in the coffin...LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked Headhunter for this post.

Sure did. Here it is, custom built. Comes pre-draped with American flag and added chin room. Optional port-hole available to shove nose out and insert in Regans custom built coffin with built in poop chute opening. Makes brown nosing possible even in the afterlife!

I would rather like to have a "Jimmy Stewart" type of Republican.
You know he was a conservative but he did not try to push his views on others.
He volunteered to fight in WWII.
He did NOT use his powers to get his son out of Vietnam who actually died there by the way.
Unlike other Republicans his "act" did not seem forced or a fake.
Too bad he never ran for office or maybe I am confusing him too much with "Mr. Smith goes to Washington"? :lol:LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked Montague for this post.
