i've been following this thread for awhile now but I am hesitant to order until there are some reviews of how reliable the service is and what the speed really is. I've tried Acanac in the past and the speed was not even close to what was promised. I'm currently with Teksavvy and I pay more than this promo for 15mbps service. It's fast and reliable and i'm hoping Contact will be the same. Couple of questions:

- Is anyone with Contact at the moment? How's the speed?
- When I got Teksavvy the Bell tech installed a separate phone line jack for my internet. Does this mean I will not need a Dry Loop? I believe we are with Bell for home phone.
If you are with Bell for landline, you will not require a dryloop.

A phone jack installation is regualr priced @ $100 (the cost to send a technician).
Who do I contact for the phone jack installation and how would I pay?
There wasn't any option in the ordering process on the Contact.net website.

This is something you will have to call tech support to help you with (# can be found on your confirmation email). They will add it to your account manually. We only have a hpone jack installation option for our 6Mbps speeds available on the site. I will ask our dev team to add it to the other packages as well.

Not to call out the obvious, but if there's no support number, how would someone cancel their service
We provide customers with a tech support number which can be found on your confirmation email or in the members portal.

we have updated our order forms as well as our confirmation emails. If you order a dryloop the landline field is not required for order completion. Also, the confirmation email will only show that you have received a dryloop discount ONLY if you requested a dryloop. This was all done in an effort to avoid confusion and to ensure that we can get you the service you want without any mixups.

Thanks Contact.

I just called not too long ago. I was informed that the installation setup fee will include the installation of the phone jack; so no extra cost of $100 to add a phone jack.
I do have the employee's name for reference.

Even better! must be because of the promo, usually we charge an additional $100 for our 6Mbps plans. I'm glad everything was worked out :)

Does Contact have any traffic shaping in any way? (i.e. slow down speeds during peak hours)
I asked this same question to ContactISP in a PM:
"Do you know what the peak usage speeds are, in the 25/10 package? No way they can be 25/10 all day every day."

To which ContactISP replied:
Well, on average between 7pm and 12am speeds will be higher than any cable product. you can expect a solid 70%-75% during peak hours, as opposed to cable which is more like 25%-30%. That being said, everything situation is unique. Hopefully my ballparks give you a better estimate.

I told myself I wouldn't do this again, but Rogers called me back, and I caved again.

Gave me the option of either
30mbps
70gb for 27$ or unlimited for 52$

Or if I wanted more speed
60mbps
120gb for 32.99 or unlimited for 58$

OR
150mbps
350gb for 42.99 or 550GB for 57$

Basically 50% off any of their Hybrid Fibre plans
Favourite Games: NieR (PS3), Catherine (PS3), Persona 3 FES/Portable (PS2/PSP), Final Fantasy IX (PSX), Persona 4 Golden (PSV), Witcher 1,2,3 (PC), Skyward Sword (Wii), Pokemon Colosseum (GC), Fire Emblem Awakening (3DS), Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS), Majora's Mask (3DS), Bravely Default (3DS)

For those who got SmartRG from Contact - what is the default admin password? My installation is tomorrow, so I don't want to reset it before then, but still want to have a peek into the settings.
I noticed that admin page address is changed compared to Teksavvy/Acanac instructions online - it is 192.168.2.1 (not 1.1), so must be something custom with the password as well...

Hmm... I placed my order today WITH dry loop but here's what my transaction # turned out to:

Plan Double Infinite Contact infinGB $34.95 -$5.00 13% $33.84
Addon(s) Dry Loop(Reg. $10) $0.00 -$0.00 13% $0.00
Fee(s) Setup Fee(Reg.$100) $25.00 -$0.00 13% $28.25
I Don;t get your point. U got the dry loop added, and they charged you zip. $0.00. What's the problem?

Uhm, thanks, but does not work... This manual actually does not have SR505 (stops at SR500), and lists defaults of 192.168.1.1 and admin/admin - these do not work for Contact.net supplied SmartRG.
