Hello Saberx,

How can I get the SmartRG SR505n Modem and is it unlocked? I know you're all taking about a group buy. Where do you all meet to get the modem and what is the total price $120 plus tax or can we get it cheaper elsewhere?

Thanks in advance,

Technician just left and everything is working fine, speed is 24 up 10 down. Apparently Contact opened two tickets with Bell for me, so two technicians showed up. The technician helped me set up the SmartRG modem. I had to call AEI tech support because I didn't know where to input my username and password, the agent told me he didn't know because my modem didn't come from Contact and it wasn't running Contact's firmware. But in the end he told me the steps if the modem came from Contact, and it is the exact same on my modem!

The only issue I have is that I put the modem on bridge mode, and I have a dual band router. The speed on the 5Ghz band is 24 up 10 down, but on the 2.4Ghz it drops to 8 up and 4 down. Some of my devices only support 2.4 Ghz.

blah restricted 1 year retention deal. Sure, it's really good for the price. But I don't feel so good pouring so much money into the monopolies anymore. So I guess that's one pro to switch to contact...but I'm sure you're not going to buy that..So go ahead and take the retention deal! It's good for the price! Make sure to seed lots on your torrents :)

To avoid being without internet if the tech does not arrive on scheduled date, can I hold off canceling my current service till the tech actually arrives?

The Bell techs came in and did the installation but I could not connect to the internet using the credentials:
Username: [username]@contact.net
Password: [Contact.net password]

ContactISP, please advise!

If your password has any capital letters, change them all to lower case. It worked for me.

I'll give that a try. How about numbers or special characters? Are they allowed as well?

I have numbers in my password, the tech support agent only told me all letters should be in lower case.

I tired with the same username but with lower case password. The status is still on "Connecting".

Did you buy your modem from Contact? Tech support can probably help. I bought my own modem, factory-reset it, then created a new WAN under advanced setup.

Oh, I didn't try factory resetting it myself. I didn't buy the modem from contact, it was from a reseller. I'll give this a try and I'll report on how it goes. Thanks man!
