I need to enter more blog contests. I find that the rafflecopter ones are super annoying. Way too many things to do for a chance to win. An Amazon.ca giftcard is something I have yet to win. I mostly win free movie passe, and gift cards to Tim Horton's or Starbucks.

In blog contests, I've noticed a much higher likelihood of using Rafflecopter (or the equivalent), where you need to Like this, visit that, Comment here, retweet these, etc. Also, a higher chance that even if you win, you may not receive your prize. Plus, they tend to get mentioned in the same breath as the Twitter contests hosted by bloggers, whereby backs are mutually scratched.Tracydeanne wrote: ↑It's too bad you hate blog contests, they have lower entries and some decent prizes. Once you get used to them, it's only a few minutes to enter. Social media contests also have a decent rate of entries, giving you a better chance to win.
For the traditional contests, my daily list is around 100 right now, not including the weekly/monthly entries and the one time entries. Higher number of entries in these types, so the wins can be rarer.
But a lower pool of entries is a major selling point, so it may be worth it.
Wishing everyone a lucky 2023!

I only won an Amazon gift card once and it was awful trying to get them to understand that I needed one for the Canadian site not the American. (it was a U.S./Can contest)
They actually sent me two codes that I couldn't use before I finally got the right one. I don't enter Amazon gift card contests anymore. Lol
Re: Blog contests, I have the same view as Twitter parties, some are good, some are not. I have a fairly good record of winning at both, so I'm ok with the strategy. In Blog contests, for the most part, the prize comes from the sponsor, not the blogger. I've never not received a prize, although it can take time.

I still have not received my prize from the December @usedeverywhere party. As for Twitter Partiers, I enjoy them, but I've noticed some regular attendees winning multiple times recently, and I am starting to wonder how random it really is.Tracydeanne wrote: ↑I only won an Amazon gift card once and it was awful trying to get them to understand that I needed one for the Canadian site not the American. Are they at parties where every tweet is an entry? If so, the same people do repeatedly win those parties because they tweet random nonsense constantly for an hour. I could probably list off the names to you of the constant entry tweeters. I'm not sure why some bloggers continue to use that method, but they do.JaredD1981 wrote: ↑I still have not received my prize from the December @usedeverywhere party. I prefer parties run or obviously managed by a sponsor, I feel I have more chance at winning fairly, and those are usually the ones where I get a win.

I'm not sure if they are or not. An example is. Last year in December there was an Airmiles party, a Sobey's party, and I think 1 more all in one night. One of the regular attendees won on both. Another example is a girl won on the infamous Target party, the Zulily one, and recently I've seen her win once or twice. I am not jealous, but when at least 1 of the winners is someone I follow, and I know has won before, it seems a little unfair. Maybe they could change rules so you can't win from the same sponsor in the same month. Like if they were two Sobey's parties in one month, like there was in December, make it so you can win in one but for the next one. IE. Give other people a chance.

Yeah, that's why I'm mostly turned off of blog contests... all the liking, visiting, commenting, etc. But I think I'm going to give them a shot!sherlockmandango wrote: ↑In blog contests, I've noticed a much higher likelihood of using Rafflecopter (or the equivalent), where you need to Like this, visit that, Comment here, retweet these, etc. Also, a higher chance that even if you win, you may not receive your prize. I don't know what the answer is, especially as the hosts focus is promoting their product and looking good to their sponsor, not so much who is winning repeatedly, or how they win. Maybe send Sobeys that suggestion? It's a good one.
I have won more than once in a day at various parties, and I can guarantee I'm not up to any funny business. I just attend and answer the questions, and I don't know any of the bloggers. Honestly, some people really just are lucky sometimes.

Some of the forms are easier than others, the old ones were awful.rebeccafromhamilton wrote: ↑Yeah, that's why I'm mostly turned off of blog contests... all the liking, visiting, commenting, etc. But I think I'm going to give them a shot!

I am going thru the driest spell ever since I've started contesting -entering daily but all I have won since the beginning of the year is 2 movie passes and 2 free coffees
I am also becoming more selective in the contest I want to participate and I don't enter Instagram, Twitter or Pinterest contests, let alone photo contests and those are becoming the norm, so it seems. I am a lot discouraged but keeping my hopes for a big price (Willow!!!)
Good luck to all the winners!

Personally, I think contesting is shifting to social media, so much opportunity there to win, and it's fairly easy for sponsors to manage.
I've had 18 wins so far this year, and only 2 wins are from traditional contesting. The rest is all blogs, Twitter, and facebook.

that is what turned me off of twitter parties - when I first started I won 3 times in just a few weeks, then nothing - I then noticed the same winners over and over again - I checked their tweets and they were utter nonsense - one of them would post sexual innuendos, nothing to do with the product, and probably thinks he's being funny - and he's one of the repeat winners
the spamming is ridiculous, and to reward those tweeters with prizes is unprofessional imo
anyway, so after winning 3 times in such a short time frame, I suspect it was because I was new and it was their "hook"
it's highly unlikely that I'll return to the parties - I changed my twitter profile to reflect my feelings so my chances of winning anything are probably less than none LOL

Yep, agree that shouldn't be allowed, and I rarely (I actually think never?) win at those types of parties because I don't do that. Sponsor parties to me, seem more fairly and professionally run.tvwatcher wrote: ↑that is what turned me off of twitter parties - when I first started I won 3 times in just a few weeks, then nothing - I then noticed the same winners over and over again - I checked their tweets and they were utter nonsense - one of them would post sexual innuendos, nothing to do with the product, and probably thinks he's being funny - and he's one of the repeat winners

There is one person who constantly tweets "I am so excited at this party!!!!!" "This is the best party ever!!!!" and things of that nature. Really? A Twitter discussion about toilet paper, or some other product? Lol

Whenever a contest excludes Quebecers,I send that company an e mail telling them I won't shop there or buy their
Product.
I encourage all Quebec RFD guys and galls to do the same.

Why don't you take it to the Regie, because that's where the real issue lies. In my mind, it doesn't make sense to punish a business because they are unwilling to jump through the hoops that the Regie has setup (i.e., invest extra time and money). You have to also realize that some companies that allow participation by Quebecers are, in many cases, blissfully unaware of what the regulations are, and so it is not that they are 'allowing' you to participate out of the goodness of their hearts, but rather because of their ignorance of the regulations.
