Are Converse back in?
I see people wearing Converse "like" shoes with jeans. Not sure what to make of it myself, but it seems like the new "hot" thing along with Lacoste shirts (thankfully with collar down).

I can top that "Puma/converse"
I have the wickedest shoes...a mix of the Converse and Puma in one!
Haven't seen them in Canada- not that I looked that much!
The Puma Vulcan (mine are a lighter pink), they are a converse style shoe, but have the leaping Puma cat on the side...they are too Kool!

They also have "designer" Chucks online, but those are $$$_______________

A guy kickin' it with pink shoes? Now that's confidence.
These are hot. I wonder where I can get them in Toronto.

they were old school cool for a long time
then nike bought them out a few years ago, stopped making them in the u.s. and threw some money at promoting them, and voila, they are 'cool' again.
if you look really, really hard, you might still be able to find some authentic chuck taylors (chucks) somewhere. . .

Aren't they basketball shoes? People are wearing them like they're "alternatives".

these are basketball shoes in the 1960s and early 70s sense of the word--true old school
no one wears them for sports anymore--they are a casual shoe now

Chucks have ALWAYS been in. The mainstream just doesn't know it.
Currently, four groups of people wear Chucks:
1. The ones with absolutely no sense of style, who buy all their ill fitting oversized clothes at walmart.
2. Scenesters/Hipsters.
3. Hongers.
4. Those who have always worn Chucks as their own personal style, and are stylish enough to pull off $30 shoes naturally with their $250 slubby raw selvedge japanese levis replica denim, and make it look better than the trendy-brands people who buy $300 rock&republic jeans to wear with $200 Shox to night clubs.
I often dress things up a bit, and wear Chuck's as a contrast to it, like this pic below, I'm wearing my high-top black chucks with red lining/stitching.

When I see a girl wearing Chuck's, I always take a second glance, just coz that's cool. When a girl is rockin meticulously clean puma's with her Puma track-suit and a puma leather bag, I assume she's stuck up or has horrible taste in music (likely both).
But when a girl wears Chuck's (but of course wearing it stylishly like a #4, and not wearing it like a #1, #2 or #3), in my mind I'd imagine her to be pretty chill, and listens to some decent music.
Just something about a girl who wears Chucks. That and big headphones, girls who rock big headphones are sweet.Last edited by sonick; Aug 29th, 2006 at 08:32 PM.
