Convert movies to a photo? or an animated GIF?

convert AVI to gif,jpg,jpeg
Trying to convert my short AVI movies created on a canon A610 to the above formats. Is there some software to do this - free or otherwise ?

If you are trying to create still from the avi just open it in Windows Movie Maker and use the snapshot feature (bottom right of play window). (This is but one of many ways but you'll already have WMM on your machine if you have xp)

Are you trying to make a image sequence?
The formats you mentioned (.gif/.jpg/.jpeg) are pictures format. Taking screenshots are quite easy, all you need is virtualdub. You can specify the frame rate interval for making a image sequence or press "CTRL+1" to take a single screenshot. Reply With Quote
