I bought a similar one at BB&B for half the price. I just looked it up and noticed there were some bad reviews on keeping it lit... I've had it for 2 years and use it regularly for creme brulee and its always worked flawlessly for me. The button is a little hard to keep pressed in tho and by the time I have torched 4-6 desserts my thumb has had enough.
That's my 2cents worth

Iwatani Torch Burner Pro

You can buy them for roughly the same price at most restaurant supply stores like Hendrix or Russell. It goes right on top of a butane cylinder.

There's lots of off brand ones that look exactly the same on Amazon for really cheap, but I wouldn't trust knock offs for something that shoots fire inside my home.

Why not just get a regular propane torch used for welding? It'd be cheaper, more reliable and more convenient to get refills on fuel.

I think the butane cans are more convenient to pick up, get them at the grocery store

I use it for adding color to meat. Flambe mackeral and fish.

The kitchen ones use a small light weight butane can. The cans are readily available at grocery stores $5.99 for a 4 pack. Very cheap... And safe for indoor use since the pressure used to operate butane is much lower than propane.

You do need a torch with it as well though.
I have a Searzall and I'm not 100% sure I'd recommend it.
It's VERY expensive once you factor in the $100+ for the Searzall and $80 for the torch.
It does do a fairly good job at some specialized things (eg fish skin) but I'm not sure I'd recommend it as my only device.

Basically this. I'm tempted to buy the $5 chinese knockoff that UrbanPoet linked mostly because I need a 2nd one for my travel kit.
But I have an original Iwatani and if I was only allowed to have one searing thing I'd get one of them.

EDIT: Bought a pair of $5 Chinese ones.
If I quit posting mysteriously you'll know why.

The fit & finish isn't that bad...
