I'm gonna assume it's a "disobey sign" ticket, just the same as proceeding straight on a right-turn-only lane... it's $110.

Cops cracking down on Left Turns onto Yonge street from QEW.
Just the other day this week, I noticed there was a cop stationed just a few meters north of the yonge street exit from the Queen Elizabeth Way (Gardiner)
I've been doing left turns in the middle lane for YEARS on that stretch of the ramp that goes to Yonge st. north. Just the other day I happened to be in the FAR LEFT lane doing a turn, well, the only reason I was there is because for once in my life, the left lane was actually free, so I decided to squeeze into it with no problems and turned left as soon as the light turned green (not sure if it was a left turn arrow??) I went left. The taxi beside me in the middle lane, also followed and turned left onto yonge, but was stopped by this Police Officer and was probaly given a heafty ticket/fine.
Does anybody know the fine for turning left in the middle lane?

Why were you "always doing it" if the middle lane wasn't marked to turn left?

i knew someone would have the nerve to ask that question instead of answering my original one. Well here's your answer. for the longest time, you could not see the lines on the road, you could not see which lanes go left,, but EVERYBODY goes left onto yonge, no body goes right, cus why? well cus if you wanted your car to end up in the lake, lol it does not make sense to have 2 right turn lanes, when all the traffic is going north. Secondly, EVERYONE turns left in the middle lane, ALL the time, day time, night time, mid day, etc... Every one does it, you see the guy infront of you signaling left, so you naturally do the same, plus the far left lane is so congested, you can't get into the lane quickly enough to make the left lane to turn.
There, does that satisfy you?

Why are you so aggressive and conflict oriented when you are not even in the right?

For years there were two left turn lanes onto Yonge St. northbound (the middle lane had the option of turning left or going straight on road parallel to Lakeshore Blvd. That changed about 6-9 months ago and the overhead signs are CLEARLY marked now - only one left turn lane. Also, the painted lines on the ground CLEARLY direct the middle lane as going straight only (even painted throughout the whole intersection.)
Apparently, the OP can't follow even the simplest road signs and markings.

I'm unfamilar with the intersection but it seems like another fellow RFDer answered you:
Plus, even if the roads aren't marked, there are ALWAYS signs on the left and right of an exit ramp telling you which lanes can go left or right or forward._______________-->> pick up a cheap all in one! <<--

so thats why everybody still turns left in that lane? maybe they were not aware or were not paying attention to the signage? and to the guy who said i can't see the markings on the road, well they may have re-paved it or painted new lines recently, but for the longest time, the lines were so faint, you would not be able to see them if u were new to the area.

If EVERYBODY turns from the middle lane, then the left lane (the actual turning lane) would be empty. They know how to do it. Just get in the line like all the people that are following the signage. You are guaranteed to be ticket free.
