Cost to Replace a clutch on a 2001 Corolla

Could somebody give me a ballpark idea of what it might cost to replace a clutch on a 2001 Toyota Corolla.

Thanks. That doesn't seem too bad. I was thinking it would be quite a bit more.

3-400 seems a bit low if you are talking installed. I would say 600-700 if you dont go to a stealership. 900+ if you do

I would guess at around 600+ minimum. Labour is the killer.

You can feel the clutch slipping when you floor it, say when you're in top gear. The engine revs up even before the car starts accelerating. Another way to check is to pull up till you're touching a parking curb with your front wheels. When in 1st gear, let out the clutch. If the clutch is still good, the car will stall. If it is slipping, it will sit there like an automatic and not stall (the clutch is slipping).

I know I'm hijacking the thread, but if that's really the case where they charge to replace a clutch at a Toyota is $900, than owning a BMW is cheap, clutch replacement cost $753 + Tax, parts and labour included.

A buddy of mine paid $800 to replace the clutch on his 1999 Civic at 325,000km. Of course, he was in a remote area of Canada, so he may not have gotten a great price.
