thx op.
i filled up my tank... i paid about $8.xx for the 20lb tank.
you don't pay for the full tank either. you pay for whatever you fill up. I filled up 16.xx lbs of propane.
i went to the Markham Rd & 14 Ave Costco.

Filled up 2 tanks at the Regent Costco in Winnipeg for $18+change a couple of weeks ago. So it's a little cheaper at that one i guess. You have to go and pay at the tire shop, and then bring your tanks around the side.
FYI - You can fill up for the same amount (9.99) on Saturday's at the Canadian Tire on St. James in WinnipegLast edited by wiebecj; May 30th, 2009 at 03:12 PM.

You can pay inside too. Just ask for a tank fill.
All propane places are SUPPOSED to purge your tank before refilling, but I've never seen it done.
Gas used to be near 9.00 a few weeks ago, but it has creeped back to 9.99.
I used to go to a place that would fill and charge you by the pound. however, it was something like $2 a pound, or $20 for the whole tank. I don't think I ever paid less than $20!

I don't want to take out a Costco membership. Can I get my tank filled for a modest extra charge? Temporary/guest membership or something?

Best bet is to find someone you know who has a membership, and get them next time they go to get you a gift card. You do not need a membership to use the gift card; just go to the membership counter with it and they will get you a temp one. If you go over the card value, you can pay with cash or debit. I did this strategy for about 2 years before getting a membership.
25+ degree weather and not wanting to heat up the oven is the other good reason

Just bought a new bbq stove. Costco have new tank for $34.99, is this a good price or anywhere else has a better deal? Is new tank filled with gas, or it's basically an empty tank? No idea...

In Ottawa Costco the tanks are 34.99 plus 9.99 for a purge and fill. It used to be 35 with the fill included but so far this year it has been 35 plus the fill. I even asked the manager about it and he thought is was included until he doubled checked.
Why in other centers is the fill included. Dosen't seem fair to us here.
