[Costco] Costco.ca Lego Technic 42070 $259.99

Costco.ca is selling Lego Technic 6x6 All Terrain Tow Truck for $259.99. Everywhere else is $369.99. I just got one myself.

Save $25 more is you use Masterpass.

In general Costco has great prices on Technics, though obviously the selection is very limited.

Same price on Amazon.ca, although no $25 discount.

Costco always has the best prices however even at $100 less than everyone else and the $25 masterpass discount this has got to be one of the worst flagship technic sets that Lego has ever come out with. This is one I am definitely not buying but to each their own.

Why? It looks great with rc?
I lost the ability to remember things when I lost the right to a full night's sleep.

Pretty bad $/piece ratio, especially when you compare it with something like the bucket excavator...

Guess you're paying for the remote

Great price but I'm passing on this set. Would rather skip the rc functionality for more pieces

I was lucky enough to be traveling with my parents through Europe for several months in 1984 (I think), including a stop in Legoland So we probably picked that kit up at the source. I remember a rack where you could buy individual Technic pieces, either at Legoland or in some huge German toy store. Technic hit Europe before it got to Canada, so I was ahead of the curve! I learned a lot from that stuff, like how a differential works. My friends would come over and play with Lego from Amazon https://toyboxadvisor.com/best-lego-technic-sets and while they were making houses I'd be making functional double-wishbone suspensions.

I still have all the components of the kit, I'm sure. Maybe even the destructions. But not the packaging, so the collectors won't be interested.

If I had a kid, I'd be combining Technic and Mindstorms.
