You got one of the masked sets, not sure the reason behind that but some runs (around late 2016) on all 49"-55"-65" had a firmwares with masked panel model. No reason to believe its a different panel than Samsung because all those with 49" sets that had firmware properly reporting panel model reported the Samsung SVA panel.
Compared to an IPS panel the SVA panel will give you better contrast (so deeper blacks) but wont give you "as wide" viewing angle.I did a quick comparison with my LG 27" 4K monitor, which I bought last year for 379. I love this LG screen because the color is so natural (IPS panel).
You can see from the pictures my LG shows more details on Rihanna's bxxbs, the black detail is not so good.
You can't judge the set before feeding it 4K videos to see it running at its native resolution.
Follow the calibration guide in the owners thread and calibrate the set to your own viewing environment, copying settings will just mess up the picture.I haven't found a good configuration for this TV so I might or might not return it. The speakers are loud but sound like you're kicking a tin can, very small amount of bass.
If I did not compare this to my LG, I'd say the screen quality is good.
If anyone figures out a good setting please share In fact, I think sharpness 50 works for me..
