Well, I hope Costco is as good as everyone says it is because I have just gotten a new membership. Years ago when hubby worked for the City we were offered a memberships but we went there only a few times that year. We have a small family and we never felt the need for getting anything in bulk. Just this month, Costco is running their membership referral promotion, $10 gift card to the member as well as the new member being referred. So my friend got her $10 GC and I got mine too. The basic membership costs $55 but with the $10 GC it's just $45. Since we actually paid for our membership this time I will get serious about finding good deals there.
I normally go to the Superstore for gas and groceries. How does gas price at Costco compared to RCCS? What about 4L milk?

In SK, gas is about 6 cents cheaper at Costco than Superstore. The Superstore gives us four cents back in Superbucks. Milk is very similar in price; I actually buy all my milk at Shoppers because we go through so much of it and they have the best price. I pay with debit/cash, so I lose out on points for using a credit card. It adds up, especially if you're buying gas. That's about the only thing I don't like.
You can use your Costco card for online purchases too, as well as services like car rentals when you travel. Online purchases can be made using credit cards - a lot of those products have free delivery. Try the various products from the meat department, especially the beef...it's a bit more expensive, but it is well worth it. Prescriptions are cheaper than anywhere else. Eyeglasses are cheaper too, although the selection isn't great and sometimes they have a long line.
Check the Costco thread on this forum, the poster Tynanwong, does a wonderful job of highlighting what's on sale every week. Shop with a list and only buy what you can reasonable use up...easier said than done at times.

Im a big costco shopper, weekly sometimes twice a week, it's on my way home from work and convenient. I gas up there when the lines are small. I also shop on line, purchased, a generator, Kayaks, books, plants, stereo equipment. loads of things. It's great that they deliver for free so no need to take the truck out and waste the gas picking larger items up. When you buy on line they normally have something extra included with the item that gives you the incentive to shop on line. The kayaks each had the skirt with them , where as I don't believe they had this with the instore kayaks .
I think the trick to shopping Costco is go in with a list of what you need and stay clear of everything else unless it's something you use all the time and it's on sale. I know that somethings always go on sale so I normally wait until it does then stock up.
I think their meat is great, their roasted chickens are the biggest and cheapest then any place else. Normally purchase a couple of these at a time, clean them and freeze the meat.
I haven't had to take to many items back, but the ones I have taken back , no questions asked.

Thanks both for the information. I definitely will spend more time checking out Costco this year. They are a bit far away but I probably can gas up and get my groceries on the same trip. I have never thought of buying any big items online. Interesting thought that's worth considering. Thanks again!
