Bought this yesterday. Better detail than the 42" LG/Zenith 1080p screen i had and exchanged for this. Also better than the Viewsonic n4280p - 1080p that this is originally replacing.
This display gives deeper blacks, better contrast and even better detail despite only the 720p native display resolution.
I couldn't ask for better bang for my buck!

LG plasma really rocks in SD quality...you may argue getting the 2007 LG50PC5D is even better because it has a Horizon stretch mode which the 2008 models do away with. The ATSC tuner on my 42PC5D is not so great and also image retention is common on LG.
I piad $2 & 2 cents more respectively to get the LG42PC5D 1.5 years ago LOL!

Q about LG plasma warranty.
Carry in / Stock Minor : Adjustment
2 Yr Parts & Labor if Sold after Apr. 2004
In-Home 2008 Models +
1 Yr Parts & Labour / +2 yr on panel only
Does this mean first year is in-home service, afterwards its carry in?
Maybe Im gonna call them monday morning....

I own the 50PC5D and love it, it only has 2 HDMI so that might be a concern to some, but the picture quality plus SD viewing on it are great, you won't be disapointed with either one i'm sure.
Wow, paid $1250 for this last B-Day, at the time it was a good deal.
For IR i'd highly recommend running a break-in DVD for the first 100 hours, or atleast don't game / static PC image in the first 100 hours, in the long run it will help, check AVSforums for more info.

OMG this is an awesome deal. About 4 months ago, I got the 50PG25 from Futureshop for $1199. And I couldn't be happier. I got the Future Shop Exclusive model, which has a frameless design (looks amazing on a 50") and 4 (!) HDMI ports.
But for $900, you can't beat this deal.

Does anyone know if it's still possible to get the LG plasma at the lower price (with coupon), or has that deal expired, and I can now only get it for the $989 price? If possible, where can I get the coupon?
Also, can price protection work in reverse (when prices go up) if the coupon is done?
Thanks.

Speaking of which, do you have an answer, or just another question?

No, you will have to wait until another Instant Rebate / Coupon comes up on the tv. They are manufacturer-sponsored, so the store doesn't take the hit on the rebate amount.

You can get the Panasonic 50px75 at FS, it has good reviews on AVSForum. It's an 720p, 2007 model.
