Just a quick question: I know the executive membership gives you a 2% return on purchases. But is it on ALL purchases? And second, can I use any payment method when shopping at Costco is do I have to use a special credit card which they give me?

I'm not aware of anything Costco sells that's not included in the 2% Executive Membership cash back. As for payment options Costco accepts cash, Interac and American Express (any American Express, doesn't have to be one issued from Costco). Costco does not accept Visa or Mastercard.

OK, so it's not like Executive membership comes with its own form of payment, no? So I can still get the 2% cash back along with any benefits/points my own credit card gives me? Nice.

Costco.ca = VISA, MC, AMEX

Also note that if you purchase online using VISA (for example) and return to the store, they will either give you back CASH or, if the amount is too large, refund to your debit card (their POS machines are only programmed for AMEX). I've done this twice. I've always reflected on this policy as both purchases were large and my VISA gives me AVION points. Since the purchase is not refunded on the credit card, I don't lose the points for the purchase and I just transfer the cash back to the card. Seems like a loophole that could easily be exploited.

Nope Costco.ca ENCOURAGES refunds at the store (they do not seem to want to pick them back up) and refund the shipping. What you lose is the time to go back to the store and gas...
