do any of these use recharge aa batteries or are they all those terrible and terribly expensive special ones?
I was in the source one day and two people in a row walked in with ge adn vtech phones and the battery replacements were much more expensive than buying a new panasonic set. I told them this and one of them bought new 3-handset phones on sale.

I can vouch for the 27.97 Uniden phones. They are amazing. Crystal clear with very good battery life. I paid around $40 for them and I thought it was a reasonable price.

Panasonic phones will last you for 10+ years. There is no way the others will. I have bought VTech, Uniden etc in the past and will never waste my money again.
Panasonic are the "Cadillac" of cordless phones and well worth the price for quality and longevity.
I'm sure I will get flamed for this on this website but sometimes getting the best "deal" isn't always the best option

My Uniden DX15586-3 start to develop problem after 4 - 5 years. Caller could not hear me even I can hear them perfectly. Brand new battery does not correct the problem.

The Siemens ones use regular rechargeable AAAs. We've had them for a few months now and they have been great. I'd definitely get them for $70. Would stay clear of Uniden though.
I agree that Panasonics are good quality phones, but I don't know about calling them Cadillacs... I mean who buys Cadillacs anymore?

This x100.
Uniden are throwaways IMO after the battery dies. It'll cost you more for 4 good batteries than the price of these phones. The cheap China batteries will last 1/4 of the length of time an OEM will.
I'm a slow learner, went though 3 Unidens in 5 years before getting my new Panny with support for my mobile though BT, 1 button telemarketing blocking...etc..._______________

Absolutely, positively not.
Not only is Panasonic one of the few that uses AA batteries (when the old ones go, just replace with Eneloops) but their phones are extremely durable. Not sure if anyone picked this up, but majority of interior components on my slightly older model are sealed in heat-shrink material. I found this out when I opened the thing up after it dropped into the pool. The only thing that was slightly out of wack afterwards was the caller ID screen.
Personally, I think all of the models mentioned in this thread aren't worth the money when you can pick up a PROPER Panasonic set for around $60 or less.
