I thought the one from LD only went down to 399. You saw 350?
Might've been $399 but I think someone in the other thread saw it for $350?

Durableness and battery life.
I don't think it's even fair to compare the 2 as they are for totally different purposes.
The Garmin is for active people wanting to track activities and heart rate. It has smart features but they are very limited. The only link they have with your phone is alerts (incoming call, text, gmail, etc) can be sent to your watch and a weather app. This is done by the Garmin app on your phone. The benefit of the Garmin is all day heart rate and bluetooth/ANT+ connectivity for devices like cadence, power, heart rate, etc. It also has GPS so you don't need your phone to record GPS in your activities. It's also fully water proof. I don't know for up to how many meters but it is designed to count laps if your a swimmer. The battery life is good as the screen is not like the Apple watch or other smart watched displays.

I've got a Samsung Gear Sport that I got for $300. This is tempting as I like having a compass on the watch and the battery life is much better than the < 2 days battery I get on the Gear Sport.

On the fence...is it worth another $170 over the Samsung Gear Sport?

What happens when the battery dies out? Send it to Garmin for replacement?

I have had my Garmin Fenix 3 Sapphire since July '15. Its battery life is a least a week when I don't use the HR strap, GPS, or activity monitors and at least 3 days if I use them intensely. I have run several thousand kms with this watch and hundreds of activities, including a few marathons - I have never seen my battery go below 50% power. This is easily the best smart activity watch I have ever owned. I will move up to the Fenix 5 but not because I "have" to but just because my 3 has been knocked around quite a bit. I plan to keep both watches for at least a few months. In any case, the 3 Sapphire gets my strongest endorsement.

So why would someone pick this over an Apple Watch? Serious question, as I'm familiar with Apple Watch but not this. Thx
Use case is very different. Fenix 3 is primarily a fitness/activity tracker with some amount of smartwatch functionality. Apple Watch is primarily a smartwatch with some amount of activity tracker functionality.

Still debating, buy now or wait til Boxing Day..
Buy now, and if there's a better deal just return it. Costco is great for returns. Also I can't see this getting close to $400 in a couple of weeks when multiple retailers sell this for 600+. I should've waited but I bought the Forerunner 235 at Amazon earlier in the year.

HAHA. Want the 5, but for this price I think it might be crazy to not get this instead.

Note this model isn't a Sapphire model as the thread title suggests. Still a great deal and looking forward to it arriving.
