Costco gas lines, USA vs Canada

I've seen the lines in states like Hawaii and Florida, and NOBODY is as bad as we are!

Why are lines so much worse here?

Well gas prices are much higher here and when 10-15 cents savings are involved people go crazy. The key is knowing the right time to go where you don't have to wait too long.

It might just be my location and I'm comparing two different brands here but the Costco in St. Catharines is easily 10-20x busier than the Sams Club in the U.S. Perhaps U.S. citizens just have more choice the gas isn't as appealing. I think the Sams Club gas station is only 10 cents per gallon cheaper. On a SUV that's like a$1.50 US savings.

In my experience in the places I have lived in the US Costco is not usually much cheaper, Arco very often beats Costco or matches Costco prices, way more variation in gas pricing. Bellingham for example is 2.98 on the low end and 3.40 on the high end, 42 cent difference per gallon.

Where in Vancouver every station around me is within 1 cent of each other.

Go at a different time.
I generally go around 10:30am and there's no line ups.

There are also a lot more Costcos, especially ones with gas. There's what, maybe 2 or 3 Costcos in the GTA that have gas stations? There are at least 10 Costcos in or around Metro Detroit, which has a smaller population than the GTA, and every one of them has a gas station. Not to mention they have Sam's Club and other stores that compete with Costco and Costco Gas.

I always fill up in the evening and with my Visa Infinity giving me 4% back I beat Costco. And there is NO line up.
Paying less is only half the equation. The other half is buying less... ;)

Same, my local costco is bad.

They are only 3-4c cheaper than Superstore Mobil, but I get 7c/L back from Mobil and 3% back with PC MC vs my 2% that I use everywhere else.
