[Costco] Moto One Action - decent mid-range phone (4GB RAM, 128GB flash, 3 cameras) for $300

Image

I posted this on another thread (http://forums.redflagdeals.com/b-h-moto ... l-2326722/), it was well received, so I decided it deserves a thread of its own.

A decently specced mid-range cell phone Moto One Action (don't confuse with the older model Moto One Vision) can now be purchased in Costco for $300. Online it sells for $310, but you may qualify for the 20$ coupon (the deal ends on December 8; costco-get-20-off-your-next-costco-ca-p ... e-2326803/). This is a member only item.

The MSRP price in Canada is $500 CAD, so it looks like the Costco deal is a very good one.

Some features:

* Display: 16 cm (6.3 in.) FHD (21:9 aspect ratio)
* Samsung Exynos 9609 processor with 2.2 GHz Octa-core CPU and Mali G72 MP3 GPU
* 3500 mAh battery
* 4 GB RAM
* 128 GB internal storage
* Resolution FHD+ (1080 × 2520p)
* Nano sim (apparently only one)
* Supports up to 1 TB microSD card
* Three cameras: 16MP rear ultra-wide f/2.2 (14mm equivalent), 12MP rear wide f/1.8 (26mm equivalent), and 12MP front wide f/2.0 (26mm). Also 5MP depth sensor in the back.
* 3.5 mm headphone jack
* 2 microphones
* Android™ 9, Pie

Before ppl ask. The processor is between Snapdragon 636 and 660, closer to the latter.

Is Motorola now part of Samsung ? I see the processor is a Samsung model.

OP, you made the effort to distinguish the model you posted from the older one yet the subject points to the older model (Vision)

Whoever can give a cheaper price for the processor. At least it's not mediatek.
However, Samsung already gave up on Exynos and it was announced a week ago.

It's $349US on the Motorola site, but you also get a free Moto G6 (value $249) or $100 off, making it $249, about $329 CAD.

Obviously Costco has the better price and return policy, and making a warranty claim would be easier, but it looks like the price is ripe for dropping further.

I'm confused. Is OP's deal for Action or Vision?

Battery life is meh...that would be the deal-breaker for me for a phone that sets me back 3 large ones. It will work on Freedom's lte network though.

Depends on which phone model we are getting. Since there is no info on the actual model, and going by the info on Costco's website, it is not fully compatible, it is missing Band 13. It has Band 4 and 12 which PM needs.
However, if you look at Freedom Mobile's website, they list band 13, as does Motorola's site.
The problem is, we don't know exactly which model we are getting.
If this had proper battery life, befitting the 3500mAh rating (the processor is more power hungry than the SD 660/665 competitors), I would be getting one. I'm on the fence about this. I am hopeful that it would get at least 5hrs SOT with regular usage (don't play games) such as web browsing, email, and bluetooth music streaming (2-3hrs).
