[Costco] Costco - Samsung 19" monitor

Saw this at Markham East Costco today: Samsung 943BWX 19" monitor for $149.98 (plus that wacky "Eco Fee" -$12.03)

Specs:

Samsung 943BWX
19-in. LCD Monitor
Resolution: 1440 x 900
Contrast: 8000:1
Response Time: 5 ms
Adjustable stand

Pic here (about 5-6th picture): http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/show ... ght=943bwx

It was about $169 in March after Mfrs rebate, $200+ laste year at this time.

Decent price for a low-midrange monitor I think

Did you happen to notice if it's a glossy or anti-glare type LCD?

Not glossy, matte finish screen. Piano-glossy type frame and stand though

Pretty funny how they put an Acer screensaver on a Samsung monitor

I was thinking of getting a monitor for my desktop but I don't know much about monitors... anyone know if this is a good deal? It probably doesn't beat the Dell monitors on Dell Deals...

This forum will have monitor deals WEEKLY. You can get 22'' monitors for less $200 with tax very often now unless its the new panel types or Ultrasharp (the high end stuff).

23'' monitors are usually over $200 and around the $250-$300 range. I got a 23'' for $250 with tax and shipping. Everyone, however, will mention and compare to the mythological Dell 23'' for 169 a few months back however and its unlikely to ever show up again.

For monitors, you should basically consider the resolution (higher the better), refresh rate (lower the better....5ms is common and 2ms is the best and somewhat common), and contrast ratio (1000:1 is typical, 5000:1 is great and 20000:1 is TV-like).

Correct me if I'm wrong
