This is tempting... again. Add $29.99 for 5 Year Warranty and you're golden.

Best Buy has these for $379.99 to the end of the month. These are the new and not open box price. I think I'll return the one I bought at Costco for $429.99 about 2 months ago to save $50. Remember, most credit cards adds an extra year of warranty.

I believe the Costco chain wide price for the NU7100 40" is now $389.99. Definitely go Costco and grab that 5 year warranty.

Costco chain wide price is now $369.99 + $29.99 for 5 Year Warranty.

It's getting difficult to say no.

Folks scope out a good VESA stand for this monster?

Bought this as a monitor from Costco yesterday. First impression is it’s a good monitor but the viewing angle is pretty bad. Text however is solid so overall given the price point, it’s a good deal. Response time is good enough to game but being spoiled by 100+ FPS, I doubt I’ll game on it.

Side note, Costco sale ($150 off) ends May 30 (on the tag). So anyone on the fence for the 40” model should buy it before then. The sale might extend but better to play it safe if you have a Costco membership. After all 90 day return policy and 40” is easy to return if needed. You can even it it in the regular shopping carts. Probably going to desk mount it later instead of wall mount.

I'm heavily leaning towards this panel, there's no way I'm rivalling this total package TV monitor pre-Black Friday 2019.

This monitor + Costco warranty + $39.99 PERRELSMITH stand.

I think I'm good at that point.

Honestly you are covered till Aug with Costco return policy so if a better deal does pop up you have options (tho odds of that happening isn’t likely and I don’t consider bb/amazon at similar or slightly cheaper better deals given you get 90 days return and an extra year warranty). The sale ends May 30th and you are basically paying $100 + taxes (and probably slightly higher recycle taxes, in B.C. it was $12 I think) when compared to 32” monitor deals (for 8” + 4K). The real question is can you live with the inferior viewing angle in exchange for better image quality (aka much higher contrast).

I have this theory.

Large VA panels may have limited viewing angles like their small counterparts. However, large VA panels (40" or more) normally sit further away from the eyes... mitigating the viewing angle issue significantly when facing head on.

I don't buy 32" VA 4K panels because I sit close to them and the angle issue is noticeable.

On the contrast comment, I passed up the LG UK6300 43" IPS TV as a monitor because it doesn't look as vibrant to me as the NU7100. For a VA panel, the NU7100 40" gets unusually bright... producing a satisfying head-on experience.

I think it would go great with a casual gaming experience like the Nvidia Shield GeforceNow network provides. It's not built for competitive FPS at true 60Hz, but we know that.

Yeah if you sit far enough away then it’s fine. If you don’t plan on mounting it and have it on a computer desk, that’s when the viewing angles might be an issue depending on your setup. I’m actually planning on mounting it on the desk replacing my old 2x2 mount so it’s slightly more distance than just sitting on a desk (tho of course mount isn’t here yet... I didn’t even order it yet lol).

For gaming, the respond time is good enough for most casual gamers. It’s by no means as fast as TN panels but it’s not far offer IPS. The only issue some might have is if you are spoil by 100+ FPS. It’s the same problem for those going from an iPad Pro to a regular iPad. You don’t notice iPad screen being bad for games until you game on an iPad Pro... then you notice how much better 120hz is. Still for an all purpose monitor, I highly recommend this given the price point it is at now.

On top of that, 40” is pretty easy to move (much easier than say a 55 or 65” tv) so worst case, if you don’t like it just return it to Costco. This actually fits in a regular shopping cart. I tried the bottom rack but it was too wide so I just put it inside the cart itself on an angle (and put other stuff in the gap under it while shopping lol). Wasn’t a planned purchase or I would have gotten one of those orange shopping carts Face With Tears Of Joy

When I was buying it, I saw quite a few other people looking at too. Interestingly enough Costco had a hisense 43” right beside it for $10 less (or maybe more, i just remember it being a $10 difference). Unless the hisense is an IPS panel, it wouldn’t make much sense to go with it over Samsung. I don’t remember hisense being IPS for 43” (tho samsung 43” is actually IPS). If it wasn’t for the Samsung, I seriously would have considered buying the hisense Face With Tears Of Joy

I feel like @Paigne is psychically subscribed to these TV/monitor threads and receives pings from the ether.

I'm headed to Costco shortly to buy 5 year warranty on a business TV I picked up, I can't promise I also won't come back with this 40" Sammy.
