Costco: SV470M - $999 (LCD/1080p/47"/120hz)
In store @ costco in ottawa (kanata location) the SV470M can be found for $999. I am not sure if this is nationwide as i checked Merivale and they are out of stock on that size.

Saw this same TV earlier this afternoon at Etobicoke/Queensway Costco, they had stock there but not sure how many, at least 2-3. Great deal for a 47" 120hz 1080p.

Can you post or pm me a scan of your receipt? The website still shows their regular price. My sister works for Wal-Mart and they ordered one of these in while they had 20% off for their associates (were out of stock at the time). It's still sitting at the store waiting to get picked up so they'd probably match Costco and give the 20% off. Thanks.

Think i saw it downtown the other day as well (GVR) but didn't pay attention to the price (was just walking by the area, wasn't actually looking @ TVs). Good deal non the less and its a decent brand too.

As you can see my local Costco had it at this price since the last week of November. Prior to that it was $1089 and I think it was around $1150 in October (I'd had my eye on this model for a while). I am very happy with this TV so far. Doesn't have some of the extra modern day features like network or usb/sd multimedia support but I plan to build a HTPC for it soon. The picture is bright, sharp, uniform and smooth and that's what really counts. So far I've mainly been using it with an OTA antenna and it has a great ATSC tuner. I've also just hooked up a Wii which works well with no apparent lag. I have also watched some 1080p movies from a macbook with an hdmi adaptor and they were amazing. The front mounted speakers on this TV are also much better than average.
My only minor complaints so far are the lack of controls on the remote, and the glowing Vizio logo which can be a slight bit distracting.

Vizios are prone to breaking down, quality is poor. I would rather spend a few bucks more and get a more reliable brand.

I Couldn't find this years CR data, but from last year:
Consumer Reports most and least reliable list from the Dec. 2008 issue.
It "shows the percentage of brands that needed a repair or had a serious problem." A lower number means fewer repairs. They say "differences of less than 3 points aren't meaningful."
LCD TVs
• Sanyo - 1
• Sony - 2
• Sylvania - 2
• Panasonic - 2
• Sharp - 2
• Toshiba - 3
• Vizio - 3
• Samsung - 3
• Phillips Magnavox - 3
• Olevia - 4
• LG - 4
• Hitachi - 4
• Westinghouse - 5
• Polaroid - 6
• Mitsubishi - 7
I know Vizio isn't a premium brand but I've heard it's among the best of the more economical brands for quality and reliability. I'm also comforted with Costco's included 2-year warranty.

I'm planning on building an HTPC too (for the bedroom) using this as the monitor. I currently use a 32" Sharp Aquos 1080p as the monitor for my main PC so hopefully the Vizio has a picture that is just as nice or nicer. Also have a 67" Samsung 1080p in the basement so I'll have a couple reference points for picture quality once I get it.
I've read mostly good reviews about Vizios and particularily about this model so it seems the quality is good.

I also take comfort in the 2 year warranty that's included. I'm going to give it a month or so and see if I like it. I would not call vizio a top tier brand but its on par w/ sanyo/lg/toshiba for LCD. For price/quality/features its definitively a good bang for the buck. I know its no samsung 120/240hz but its also 30-40% less expensive. There must be some reason the big retailers, costco, walmart, sam club have put their backing behind the product, costco would not slap a 2 year warranty on any piece of junk.

I wouldn't be surprised if we start to see Vizio at FS, BB, Brick, Sears, etc in the near future.

The website price is almost always higher than in store since it includes delivery. It is too bad that the description on the receipt doesn't show the model number, but the item number 744047 is the same as the website listing, so if you showed a printout of the webpage and this receipt you might get lucky.

That's a good idea, maybe I'll try that. Thanks again.
