[Costco] Unlocked Samsung A5/A8 @ Costco $369.99/$597.99

Was at Costco on the weekend and noticed 2 unlocked phones available.

Samsung A5 $369.99
Samsung A8 $597.99

Let me know your thoughts. I think specs are nice for price. Are there better alternatives in his price range. Need to replace current phone and need to buy something outright.

Too much. The A5 has been at least 299 unlocked. With Koodo deals/loopholes, makes it way cheaper.

It's about on par with the ASUS Zenfone 3 Zoom that was on sale a couple of weeks back for $300 (I bought one). I looked at this samsung when it was $400 but didn't bite until a similar phone came out at the $300 price point which felt like a better deal to me.

You can get a real flagship for much less than the A8 price. Pixel 2 is $480 at Koodo.
Did you mean the Pixel 2 $480 without contract? I see $1315.

The price I have is an unlocked and no contract price.

If you look around on Craigslist or Kijiji, brand new A5 starts around $250 tax free.

Walmart pretty much gave away the A5 for free + $100 GC this past wknd.

Deal is colder than my ex-gf's Alaskan dad.

The ones who are selling for $400, be warned I'm having fun at your expense. Face With Tears Of Joy The A5 not even worth $200 imo

There's no contract. You have to activate a line but there's no cancellation fee. Pay zero upfront, cancel after you get the phone, and pay off the $480 tab (talking about the Pixel 2 non-XL).

So you must pay, at least, one month at @49$ ? (still a good deal)

Not even one month - your bill will be pro-rated. I just noticed it's in-store only so there is also $30 charge for activation and SIM card. If they're offering it at Wow, you can trade in an old phone and get $50 off tho.

Well...that all sounds good on paper until you have to deal with Koodo when the F up your bill...my Pixel 2 XL had dead pixels and exchanging it was an absolute nightmare. The previous time I did a Koodo Tab hustle they never sent me a bill and sent my file to collections without ever contacting me (I never activated the SIM, I used my company SIM card immediately after signing up and for some reason the online account never generated any bill for the entire time.) Once again it took months to resolve. I'll avoid Koodo "deals" if I can. But to each their own, just saying my experience.

It could be easy and straightforward but sometimes it's not...and when it's not, you will just wish you paid a few hundred more rather than spending 10 hours on the phone.
