I pulled the trigger. I was really debating between this and the M-series. But the superior black level performance with 4x more dimming zones, superior brightness, half the input lag and response time, and the true 120hz panel which gives superior motion performance and ability to interpolate to 60fps for TV content, as well as the ability to overclock the panel to display in 1080p120fps if hooked up as a PC monitor really sealed the deal. It's worth the extra $300.

Ok I bought it. Hard to beat the price plus with Costco's return policy and that 5 year warranty, difficult to not not say yes.

Darn...wish they had the P 50" set. Need a set for my bedroom. Had this set last year before returning it and going with the OLED. Great set particularly if off axis performance isn't a worry or if you aren't overly susceptible to DSE. But then these are issues of all LCDs .

The P55-E1 will be $1199.99 on Nov.23rd if you don't mind an IPS panel.

I was on the fence too but the Costco return policy made me pull the trigger. If I end up regretting my purchase or if something else comes up for cheaper then it's easy to return at Costco.

There are only 30 left in stock and I assume this is the price they will finally sell these older panels out at. It's the price I've been waiting for. I really doubt you will find this TV or a comparable TV for a cheaper price on BF.

This is $200 cheaper than the cheapest it's ever been. I would have jumped on this (I was watching the page every day for another drop) if the Sony XBR65X900E for $1750 deal didn't come along before this price drop at Costco.

I think dollar for dollar if you are looking at these two sets for the same money I suggest going with the Sony though. Still this is a pretty good deal especially if you are the type that will buy an extended warranty regardless as nobody can match the 5 year warranty that Costco offers for $100.
where is/was the Sony XBR65X900E for $1750 deal?

Pulled the trigger. Thanks for the feedback.

Those who bought this TV, is the firmware automatically updated?
I guess I also need to order that remote too from their site.

Anyone know how many of the HDMI ports accept 4k/HDR on this? I have a feeling it's only one?

First 4 HDMI ports support 4k HDR. Port 5 doesn't do HDR but has low input lag

I'm also getting interested in the P65 (the C1 for the tablet remote), as it seems to be a great performer for the money. Rtings.com loves it, but reading just the reviews on the Costco.ca site tells me that a number of people have suffered bad reliability problems, with TVs dying after a few months and I'm not sure I would want to run that risk. The P65 does DV which I want, but I'm starting to reconsider and look at the Sony 900E (or even a Sammy MU700) for better reliability.

Thoughts/comments?

I recently bought the 70” e70-e3 for $999. Best deal I’ve ever got, what a huge gorgeous tv. 4K/60 and a recent HDR10 update. Little bit of cloudiness on a black or grey screen but that’s my only complaints (and would probably be unnoticeable if I hadn’t turned off local dimming). Paired it up with the new Xbox One X and holy crap. Gears, Forza, and Halo look nuts at 4K/60p.
