A bunch of university students were working on a machine to harvest CO2 from the atmosphere. They wanted it to be autonomous, cost efficient, and run on renewable energy.

Turns out that machine already exists, and nature has a patent: a tree.
It's also solar powered.

The only trouble is that a tree can only absorb so much carbon and the maximum biomass potential of a given unit of land is limited to its natural capacity. Eventually the tree will die and release carbon (which hopefully other trees will absorb by growing to replace it). To absorb all the carbon released from fossil fuels in the past and into the future, trees will have to be aggressively used for building materials (and still most structures only have a 50 year life cycle, if that), or, some say, sunk deep into fresh water lakes or mines. And, a lot of land will need to be afforested and reforested. Just a few thoughts.

All I can say is a very exciting future ahead :) Technologies like this will help us to improve as humanity. We need more projects like this, for example you can check this article for other eco-friendly technologies which will also be a great change for the real estate market.
