Better than 7% like Missisauga is contemplating I guess. We still pay way less property tax than surrounding areas, so booyah? The question is what they're going to do with the extra funds - stave off cuts, pay down debt, etc.

This is so long overdue. Toronto has escaped paying their fare share for years. They had some of the lowest property tax in Ontario.

Expected. When Ford said it would be at most 2.5% back then, I knew it would be at least 2.5%.

To be fair, he's said every number between 2.5% and 35%.

If people want to complain about high property taxes then they need to come over to Durham.

Lowest property tax rate does not mean the lowest absolute property tax in $.

He said 35% if there were no cuts to the service in order to keep things the way they are

So George Smitherman or any of the other guys would have done a better job than Ford?

true. similar sized homes in toronto likely pay much more actual tax dollars than surrounding municipalities due to the lower mill rate being applied against much higher assessed property values.

The large City of Mississauga hike is only the city portion of the tax and doesn't include the regional and education portions. In total, it's approximately a 3% hike. Not as bad as it sounds...

A monkey trainned to juggle apples would've done a better job then Ford. You'll notice out of all the cuts his salary wasn't one them. He's a typical Conversative screw the lower/middle class and make the rich, richer.
