Cracked Galaxy S3 screen, where to get it fixed?

Hey,

Cracked Galaxy S3 screen, where to get it fixed?

I just cracked my screen by dropping the phone, its the Galaxy s3 bell phone. Its a hairline crack.

Someone know where I can get this fixed in toronto? I called one store and they said they will fix it for $280....

Someone know of a cheaper place?

Is it worth fixing, or selling as is?

Thanks.

I've fixed several screens from gps to ipods and its pretty easy if your the least bit technical. Just order a screen from china on ebay ( you only need the digitizer/glass not the lcd). There are probably tutorials on youtube. Some ebay sellers include the tiny tools you need also. Everything I fixed cost me less than $15 each time.

Heres a tutorial. http://galaxys3root.com/galaxy-s3-root/ ... galaxy-s3/

Can you please link me to what I need on ebay? I am not really sure. The touch and everything works perfectly, just that there is a hairline crack on the glass itself. So do I need the glass only or the digitizer as well?

EDIT: Is this what I need? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/OEM-LCD-Screen-F ... 598wt_1398

I have the blue galaxy s3.

From what I know they are not attached. If you're just replacing the glass, I believe you have to remove the LCD portion from the glass itself since it is usually held to it by some sort of adhesive.

I'm pretty sure they're attached. Everywhere I've looked it seems that people have also bought the digitizer.

You just need the digitizer... NOT the LCD. The digitizer is the glass and touch sensor that come together as one piece. Here is a $20 example: (comes with the free tools too.)

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/LCD-Touch-Screen ... 613wt_1159

(no relation to this seller... not sure if I bought one from him or not but all the ones I've ordered from overseas have worked like new.)

The hardest part is seperating the lcd and glass... as mentioned they are usually glued together on the edges and you will need a hair dryer to loosen it. I say it's Pretty easy now that I've done a few but the first time was pretty scary! Proceed at your own risk! ;)

EDIT: Looking closer at that listing it looks like that is the glass only... not sure how exactly the s3 works if the touch sensor is removable/ how hard to get it off. You'll have to watch lots of tutorials!

Its nearly impossible to do that. The screen is bonded to the glass and the SAMOLED is so brittle there is no way you could remove the glass without damaging the SAMOLED.

You must change the whole screen assembly.

You clearly have no idea what screen technology is in the S3. It's a SAMOLED display. You must replace everything.

If you looked at the tutorial you would know you need the whole screen assembly. Not just the digitizer.

Any recommendations for a decent repair shop for this problem in the Fraser Valley or GVRD (BC)
