I don't think it will work considering that $99.8 percent of RFD'ers are employees and not employers. Most RFD'ers are students and young people who work for companies/corporations.
What we can do is have a "job sighting" forum, it will work like this: If my cousin tells me that there would be hiring 5 new people at his workplace I will come here and post the info and the address of the factory so people from here can go there and grab those jobs. If I see asign that says "help needed" I will come to the forum and post the address of the place. Only this way will it work, but expecting to get a flow of employment from fellow RFD'ers would be like expecting a Pizza Hut delivery in an Ethiopian village-- it won't happen man.

I just thought of this after a few posts regarding JOBS and EMPLOYMENT.
Im just thinking that this will benefit all of the people who are seeking/looking for voluntary work, or becoming an employee of some sort.
With the amount of people surfing on RFD, im sure people will gain from this as 'word of mouth' is important in the business world.

A lot of us RFD'ers that are students are also students looking for work....so I think that this is a very good idea, ming.
As for Vin... Most people probably said the same thing about people coming and sharing deals on RFD, but lo-and-behold.
IF Ninety Nine dollars and eighty cents percent (wtf) of RFD'ers work for big companies, then it would be very easy for them to either lets us know about jobs inside the companies or to suggest to their employers that they post an ad on the boards.
It works both ways, and we don't have to rely on you or your cousin. :P_______________

Its unlikely that we'll find many EMPLOYERS on RFD.
But some research stated that like 85% of jobs are not advertised and are usually found via "word of mouth" or "contacts". So although the majority of people are employees, and not employers, i still think its likely many ppl can benefit if we can have discussions, etc.

Apr 28th, 2004 06:52 PM #5yeah but that 85% is WITHIN the company, so it's tough for you to hear it!Originally posted by mingcourt@Apr 28 2004, 06:47 PM

I was thinking about posting the same thing on OT. People who are already working can make some extra cash if their employers give out an incentive for your referral. I think that's a great idea benefitting everyone.
1. Employers get who they want
2. Someone gets a job
3. Referral gets $$$ to blow
For example, the place I work for occasionally post jobs for external candidates. Looking for a receptionist right now._______________

We don't get enough volume of people, so we have no receptionist and the calls get forwarded to one of the HR ladies who are the receptionest for the day.
Of course people don't realize this(even though there's a sign). So they stand there for awhile before wandering into my office.
My office though is a large room which houses 3 programmers. I was the first progammer there, so I was smart enough to snag the corner to the left of the door. So it's the other guys that get nailed by the people.

Not a bad idea, but I think it won't be busy enough to create its own forum.
BTW if anyone can find me a job paying $50k+ I'll give you half of my first pay check
