CT: 1L 0W30 German Castrol @ $7.19 (until Nov 2nd)
Just want to remind fellow GC users that 0W30 "German" Castrol Syntec (aka GC) are on sale for $7.19 a liter until November 2nd.
Regular "over"-price = $8.99
Sale price = $7.19 (20% off).
Castrol Syntec @ CT
You may want to PM @ PartSource to save a few cents or so...
PS:
Actually, other formulations of Castrol Syntec ("North American" made 5W20, 5W30, 5W50 & 5W40) are on sale as well.

You're welcome.
It's been a while since the last "bigger" sale.

Esso XD-3 Extra 0W-30 (PAO base stock) has a better price by the litre, only trouble is they can only be found in Esso distributors by the 12L case

For those who own VWs and other German vehicles that require a xW40 oil, Esso XD-3 0W40 is @ walmart for $23. It is a Group IV (PAO base stock oil). I use it in my GTi 1.8T and GTi VR6. Great oil for the price. PAO 100% stynthetic. Most people dont know it but Amsoil, Mobil1, Castrol (except GC), QS, and all other mainstream "synthetic" oils are not synthetic base stock...still organic based.

Does anyone have the class codes for this oil? My Merc-Benz vehicle requires a MB class code synthetic oil for warranty purposes...

I'm not sure this will help, but I know it has the LL-01 (Long Life) classification which BMW uses.

GC 0W30 is on sale at CT around once a year, I bought 12 cans last year. I went to my local CT last night, I saw all 1L Castrol are on sale except 0W30, maybe they forgot the sale tag. I should try to scan the price, it was my mistake.
Anyhow, I am stuck with AMSOIL 5W30 for at least 2 year, it was $6 /946mL includes taxes and recycle fees which I think it is a good deal. I bought it when there were $10 off $40 coupon + price match with part source.

GC 0W-30 is not listed as energy conserving? no friction modifiers?

Newbie
I drive a honda civic and it is recommended to use 5W20. Is the 0W30 the better choice for my car or should I go with the 5W20 like always?
Thanks.

Too thick to be considered energy conserving. Almost a 0w40 oil...
For an even better deal, PM with Partsource for another 10% off.
