I don't shop much at Canadian Tire. I find they're way overpriced and their sales every week look pretty much the same.
Sometimes there's a worthwhile deal, but generally I can get things at Walmart's regular price and it's basically the same as the sale price at CT.
The lottery cards are not an incentive to me - just reduce the prices. The odds of getting any kind of decent discount on the cards is extremely low.

You can usually ask for A card from the customer service desk. I don't get flyers but I have enjoyed cake in the past.

You've been here long enough to know that the odds can be beaten. Last year I cashed in for 10 Lindt chocolates at the service desk, cut out the $5 off coupon and bought consumables like 6 packs of Kleenex, Toilet paper, laundry detergent etc. at under $1 each in boxing week. The chocolates went in a bowl in the living room for guests over the holidays. Free chocolate and $50 of consumables for under $10 is a good deal. That's what you get when you lose. If you use the other methods outlined here in the past, the odds to win increase markedly.
