Keep in mind that condos have specific rules re: window coverings. Most require a neutral or white window covering facing outwards, so if you want colour, you'll need white on the back of your curtain. I think it's harder to find two-tone blinds.

Curtains or blinds, condo owners
Morning all,
I'm moving into my first condo soon and am having a dilemma on whether blinds or curtains are more suited to the space.
I have a huge amount of window space (floor to ceiling & almost 30 feet wide) and need opinions on which to go for.
Blinds would be most practical, but curtains are nicer to look at I think...
Any thoughts, experiences, regrets (about choosing one over the other)?
Thanks in advance

In situations such as those, what you can do is have white sheers on the outside and the thicker, coloured curtains on the inside. Takes care of the neutral problem and the sheers allows you to have privacy and sunlight.
OP, it's really a personal preference. I'm a fan of curtains myself. If you can sew (or know someone who can), there's a lot of savings that can be had via that route._______________

If you go with blind ikea has new ones that are a great copy of the pottery barn ones I like with the large metal grommets. I find they look contemporary but clean and classic as well.
Fabricland has decent prices on stuff if you get their membership card. It's good for a ton of dough off hardware and fabric. They also sell white blackout curtains like at hotels if you need a really really dark room to sleep.

Blinds-to-Go
Get them to measure it (costs around $75). That way, if they roll blinds are too short or two long, then it's their fault and not yours.

I personally think curtains have a "softer" look. IMO they're also practical, because if you mount them the right way they are easier to open/close than some mini-blinds (and look better when open). The accordian style mini blinds aren't bad though!
And yeah, the cheapest way to do curtains is to sew them yourself. Fabricland also runs an outlet type store at Major Mac and Yonge, if you want the cheapest cloth you can find (small selection though).
