I'm still not sure how you mean to cut a hole with a hacksaw....will you pre-drill a large hole, slip the blade through and then reattach it to the hacksaw frame?

Or do you plan on cutting in from one of the sides and then trying to rough out a hole?

Either way, the hacksaw is not the way to go....either buy/borrow/"rent" a dremel or use a jigsaw.

There is no hacksaw frame. I'll just be using the blade and maybe some kind of handle.

And it's not sheet metal. Although less than 1 mm thick, this thing is tough. I've used shears to cut sheet metal aluminum before, and I don't see how I can possibly cut through this with snips.

I'll just get a hacksaw blade and try. If it works it'll probably take a long time...which is fine. If it doesn't work I'll try alternatives, and it's not like I'll just toss the hacksaw blade in the garbage if it doesn't work.

Okay, I went to a bunch of stores today and picked up the following:

- tin snips
- mini hacksaw and bi-metal blades
- grinding stones (drill tips)
- dremel kit ($15 Jobmate from CT)
- round file

And I already have a drill. Now I can try all sorts of methods for cutting this case.
