D-Link DI-624 router dropped connection

Hey everyone.

I have been having this problem for some time now...

As stated, i'm using a Dlink DI-624 router, and i'm experiencing lost connection frequently...
I go into my router setting and check the logs. Roughly every hour, my connection would drop. I would have to manualy go into my settings and reconnect. Then about 7 mins after, the log would say my router just restarted.

I'm using Bell sympatico high speed edition.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem with this router model?

Thanks.

Is there a solution without replacing my router?

Short answer - nope.

I have the same router. It blows.

I have no idea why they send you a PADT to end the PPPoE session...
Other PPPoE client ignores it

If you have a modem/router, you may want to enter your username/password in there and set the Dlink as if you had a DHCP connection

That way your modem dials the connection and your DI-624 does the routing

Unplug power cord and plug it back in.
This only helps if i can;t connect from the web browser....

However it doesn't help with my lost connection problem.....

Anyone else ?

I used to work for D-Link and let me tell you right now, their routers are a POS.

There's a thread going on in the deals forum for a Linksys WRT54G for 35 bucks; I suggest you pick that up instead or else you'll be fighting with the D-Link everyday.

I just picked up a WRT54G to replace my D-Link. My torrent downloads have increased dramatically and I don't disconnect if I upload more at than 10 kb/s.

If you do not wish to replace it, here are a few things you can try.

1) Make sure you're not uploading any torrents at more than 10 kbs
2) Disable gaming mode
3) Disable NTP time

Why disable gaming mode? I though that disable SPI (less checking, ie: load)
I had a POS DI-604 and had no issue with BT, only prob was overheating and reboots when I connect to Kad on eMule
