Danby Dishwasher

Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has come accross this problem before ..

I've got a Danby countertop dishwasher that started emitting this extreamly high pitched squealing sound during the wash/dry cycle. I'm just curious if anyone has had this problem, or might know what is wrong with it? It's quite loud (I live in an apartment and worry that my neighbours might hear it).

I'm not a repair man, but I think the sound may be the spinning arm where the water comes out to rinse the dishes. A friend of mine have dishwasher that does the same thing when it is in rinse mode.

haha, yeah .. nobody's been banging on my door yet (personally I think they're just being polite because it's very, very loud!) ..

Well, I guess i'll just bring it to a local service depot .. see what they have to say. The thing I hate about fixing these things is that it usually costs about as much to repair as it would if I bought a brand new one...arg

haha..Now there's an idea. I'll take it one step further and give Danby a call (while i'm inside and the machines running) so they can listen to the noise too..

No, you can't do that. It will stop when the door is open. You have to stay inside while it is running. Of course, the door has to be closed too.

Bought it used from criagslist.

You can pick them up new @ Wallymart for $229. They work great .. when they don't squeak! If you start looking now, you can probably pick one up used for $100 - $125 (a working one)

Never had that problem with my Danby countertop dishwasher. I loved that thing! Then had to sell it when my landlord saw us using it! Doh!

You're not allowed to use dishwashers? I had an issue with my kitchen tap .. seemed to have what they call a "vandal-proof" arreter on it. It was very difficult to remove and when I finally got it off, there was no threading on the tap to attach my dishwasher to.

Instead of trying to adapt it to the kitchen tap, I decided to buy a little kitchen cart (with wheels) and run it over to my bathroom faucet .. has been working great so far!
