Wow...the web people over at CHCanada.com really can update in a timely fashion when they want to: IM2 back up to $23.99, right on schedule... That seems to be the ONLY update right now, though.
Hey LG: what's the status of CineEtCie.ca?? It doesn't seem to have been updated at all in many weeks..!?

Another reason to cancel your membership ... (perhaps) :)
If I was interested in this movie, (which I'm not since I've already bought it; it's actually pretty good), then I'd likely wait till Black Friday and/or Boxing Day to get it at a better price. Anyway, here is this week's "deal" (compare to $32 at FS, and $35!! at BB):
Robin Hood for just $17.99. Plus, enjoy our low shipping of $1.99!
Oscar® winner Russell Crowe (Best Actor 2000, Gladiator) stars as the legendary figure known to generations as Robin Hood, in director Ridley Scott's bold re-telling of the virtuous archer's rise as unlikely hero to the impoverished people of Nottingham.
This limited-time offer ends November 28, 2010

not surprised
bankrupt?
http://forums.redflagdeals.com/colum...nkrupt-976298/
although i did receive the usual special offer email from them today (even though i cancelled a month ago lol). Here is the toronto star article:
http://www.thestar.com/news/crime/ar...oses-its-doorsDVD distributor closes its doors
Published On Thu Dec 09 2010
Valerie Hauch Staff Reporter
It will be the last Christmas party a week tomorrow for about 100 employees of Columbia House and Doubleday – but it may be more of a wake.
The employees at the 5900 Finch Ave. E. offices were summoned to a meeting yesterday and told by a representative from bankruptcy trustee Alvarez & Marsal Canada Inc. that the company, which operates under DB Media, was ceasing operations. The bankruptcy does not affect the company’s American operations.
Employees were advised to apply for EI immediately.
Later, outside the building, a number of employees told The Star that there had been rumours circulating for some time that the company was not doing well in a world dominated by services like iTunes, and might close.
Graphic designer Jeff Betts, who was hired in 2001, said company officials did everything possible to save the company, which sells DVDs, CDs, books and other products, but it just wasn’t enough.
``People like to get it for free on the Internet,’’ he said. ``The media we sell…it’s obsolete. It’s also the economy – it’s bad.’’
Betts, whose wife was injured in a car accident recently and who is the father of a 2-year-old, isn’t quite sure what he’s going to be doing in the future – but he plans to see his friends and fellow employees at the Christmas party.
``It’s already paid for,’’ he says.
Silvana Scalzo, 43, is a product manager and had worked for the company for 16 years. ``We’d been hearing things…but it’s still a shock. We’re a really tight group and I’m going to miss everyone.’’
Clarence Wong, 34, a products specialist had worked for the company for seven years and says he’ll ``definitely be spending less this Christmas.’’
Debra Hack, 55, a 20-year-employee, said she’s a little concerned about the pension plan. ``I’m hoping it’s going to be safe…but there’s been some chatter that we might lose a chunk of it.’’

Wow that sucks.
For the past few months anyway they didn't really had good deals anymore but know I guess I'll be stuck paying 27$ for Blu-Ray while Amazon.com launches new releases for 17.99$._______________

Is it both columbia house's that went bankrupt? There's two in Canada? The one where you get a bunch of movies for cheap price, then the one this thread is about, where they just sell movies, without any intro deals or anything like that.
I guess Columbia House vs. CH Canada? I'm guessing it was Columbia House, no CH Canada that went under?

Move to expired deals
Yep, it was moderately fun while it lasted. This should likely be moved to EXPIRED DEALS now.

http://www.alvarezandmarsal.com/en/canada/DBMedia/
Dear Customer,
Please be advised that on December 9, 2010, DB Media, DB Media Distribution (Canada) (formerly The Columbia House Company (Canada)) and their related partners (hereafter referred to collectively as “DB Media”) were assigned into bankruptcy in Canada. Alvarez & Marsal Canada Inc. (“A&M Canada”) was appointed Trustee in Bankruptcy (“Trustee”) of DB Media’s estate.
As a consequence of the bankruptcy, we regretfully inform you that DB Media will not be fulfilling any customer orders through its book and DVD clubs as of December 9, 2010 as the Canadian operations have ceased. The bankruptcy of the Canadian operations was taken in response to poor economic conditions.
A&M Canada, serving as Trustee, is now in the process of collecting amounts owed to the book and DVD clubs. If you have an outstanding amount owing to DB Media, we would appreciate immediate payment of your account in full. Should you have questions regarding your account, please contact:
Regarding the DVD Club: 416-299-8181
Regarding the Books Club: 416-977-7891
The Trustee is also in the process of liquidating DB Media’s other assets. Proceeds will be used to reduce the company’s debt.
If you have any additional questions on DB Media’s bankruptcy, please call Nick Macoritto of the Trustee’s office at 416-847-5173. In addition, a website has been set up which will include notices, documents and other updates which may be of interest to you: www.alvarezandmarsal.com/DBMD.
Yours very truly,
ALVAREZ & MARSAL CANADA INC.
Trustee in Bankruptcy of
DB Media Distribution Inc.
DB Media Distribution (Canada)
CH LLC and CH Sub LLC
