and this is useful how? i wouldn't recommend it, choosing the alternative from hotmail gives you problems down the road with some apps that you would like to use but it has problems understanding something other than @hotmail.com, i had this problem with 2 of my past emails and had to change it to @hotmail.com to get some stuff to work, and ended up having to re add all my contacts and change my info on websites

Dead easy @live.com registration trick
1) Make sure you're logged out of your current account and then go to www.hotmail.com or get.live.com/mail/overview and sign up for a free account.
2) At the signup page, go to the address bar and in the URL replace hmnewuser.aspx with newuser.aspx (remove the hm) and remove the &hm=1 afterwards. Hit enter.
3) You can now sign up for a brand spanking new @live.com address!

What does an @live.com have that a regular hotmail.com account doesn't?

To you and TapemanPL, it's just a way so that you can get your name on a domain. So instead of having John12351@hotmail.com, you can have your e-mail as John@live.com. i wouldn't say its something that useful but its pretty cool to be able to use your name without a bunch of numbers.

i can see how that is kind of useful, but that's just not a problem right now because not a lot of people have registered yet...my @hotmail.com is what i want it to be and allows me to use more add ons for msn. and don't you guys find it a huge pain in the ass to change all the info around so your emails start going to your new one? it took me a week to get most of my stuff going to that one email and i'm still finding out places i forgot

http://www.the-cloak.com/login.html
Input http://get.live.com/mail/overview
Click "sign up" or whatever. Change the URL to newuser and remove &hm=1 per previous instructions.
(You can't sign up using a proxy, because the antispam verification will not work)
Once you get to the live.com signup screen, copy the URL, and paste it into a new window WITHOUT the "the-cloak" stuff. Sign up as normal and you'll have a .com
This is kind of useless to me... they didn't have my name unfortunately... hope I can help someone else out though.
