9800 Pro is indeed faster, and AIW is a great feature and selling point for later on.

This has only a 1 year warranty as opposed to a 3 year on the non Radeon at FS. probably better to have the 3yr warranty for the xtra money

Jan 3rd, 2006 01:02 AM #20Yah for some reason they went with a 128 bit bus on the X700 but if you get something like the X700Pro or XT it is faster than the 9800 Pro (faster than the 9800 XT actually) but not by much:

Will this fit the recent eMacines that were on sale from Futureshop?? Did they have an AGPslot?
If i ever get the computer from future shop I'dlike to add PVR and HTPC capability to it and this card looks good.

One thing that might make a PM not possible.
On BB/FS website it states that the AIW 9800 Pro comes with a 3 years warranty. While on Infonec it's a 1 year warranty.
Though it might be a typo, but could potentially ruin the opportunity of a PM._______________

Watch out for this:
http://www.futureshop.ca/information...gon=&langid=EN
We will beat lower prices advertised by authorized dealers located in Canada, including prices advertised on the Internet. If, within 30 days* of purchasing an item from Future Shop or futureshop.ca, you find the same product advertised at a lower price, we will gladly refund you 110% of the difference.
I was at FS last night to do a pm on the Maxtor HD against BB. The sale person gave me a hard time with this clause. The transaction went through and I was about to sign and noticed only a straight pm. He said "pm is after the purchase, you need to go to cs for the 10% as the deal already valid regardless of the signature".
. Looking at the long lineup for the boxing day return .... no wait. I argued with him for a good 5 minutes, asked for the manager, show me the policy. He said manager is busy, internet not working. So the decide to do the 10% himself, just for me. I got home, did the calculation, $1.15 short
. Next time when I do return, I will deal with it
.

Jan 3rd, 2006 07:53 AM #26The need to go to CS for the 10% is just plain BS. I always get the extra 10% off for the pm when they enter the reason for a price override.

Ther AIW 9800 Pro is based on old technology and won't won't work with newer Intel processors - specifically HT chips, could apply to dual core chips too - I'm not sure. This mainly applies to the TV part of the card, and ATI know of the problem and have no fix for it - except for the newer 2005/2006 AIW cards.
If you have AMD or an intel slower than say 2.4Ghza you should be OK.

Don't need this card, but it's pretty tempting. Best price to date for a very nice htpc card.
