great question...i dont remember seeing tags too...but they prob a have lots of security cameras
most of the expensive stuff is in enclosed displays or behind the sales person anyways
i know that high end dresses, and jackets have it secured on chains...you need to ask the sales person to try it on._______________

I know the old Emporio Armani store (now Daniel Leather) on Bloor had security tags for some of their stuff.
The inkpacks for sure. My friend worked there and told me how one would-be-shoplifter took some clothes in the change room and then ran out of the store with ink all over their face and hands.
Holts probably has some security tags for the lower-end stuff. The high end stuff is probably all handled by salespeople and they probably don't want the security tags to ruin the material.

most places have security tags sewn into the clothing. Even cheapo clothing like GAP has it.
Im sure the stuff @ Holts does too._______________

There are no plastic security tags. It simply cheapens the image of the store having those on their merchandise. Customers would also have to be greeted by those metal sensor stands at their entrances - which is very unclassy for their clientele. All high end items not behind a glass enclosure are locked down by cable and the rest are not.

It really depends on what the item is. The sunglasses have the metal tags wrapped around the nosepiece, and if you want to try them on with the tags off, you have to talk to the salesperson.
Also I know that Gucci doesn't have the tags on the display models, but for the new ones that they store in the cabinets to sell, they have tags on them.
The high-end designer bags that they have only a couple of don't have them, but they are locked down by the bungee cord thingys.
Shoes don't, but a lot of the accessories, like scarves and shawls have them.
I could probably go on and on, but these are just the ones off the top of my head.

I just went to Holt's today and surprisingly alot of their merchandise now have those plastic security tags on them. They never used to. I suppose theft has become a problem for them that they would resort to such devices.
