[Dell] 15.6" Inspiron Gaming FHD laptop (GTX 1060 6GB/i5/8GB/256GB SSD)/$1124 all in (after coupon,10% eBates,3% Dell rewards)

(1199 - 75) * 1.13 (tax) - (1199 - 75) * 10% (ebates) - (1199 - 75) * 3% (dell rewards) = $1124

You must use ebates (which gives 10% today)

(tip: just install this plug in under Chrome

https://www.ebates.ca/express

for hassle free ebates forever

alternatively, go to dell through ebates and search for ni157577)

You must apply coupon $75OFF$1100PC which reduces the price by $75

You also get 3% (so a little more than $30) in dell rewards that you can use to purchase various accessories like backpack or mouse/keyboard from dell.

Rather than the $75 off coupon - get a 10% off code from Unidays, if you're a student or alumni that has access to Unidays (UWaterloo alumni are eligible, for example).

I'm pretty sure this is the Max-Q version of the 1060 as well, which isn't quite as powerful, but can also apparently be overclocked to near-regular-1060 performance levels.

Also of note: the eBates plugin doesn't automatically show discounts for Dell.ca, Amazon.ca, or the Microsoft Store (Canada). You still have to visit the site either *through* the plugin, or from the eBates site itself, to get the discount. And it will never show that you have a discount active either. I was told by eBates that it's because those stores haven't implemented the necessary changes to make the plugin work.

Why the down votes on this?
Especially if using Unidays 10% off vs coupon as suggested by wearysky.
Is it the potential choppy issue discussed in other forums?
Is it the math of including the dell promo card?
Is it the new GTX cards coming out?
Is it because it's an i5 processor? or 8 GB or ram?
Is it the Dell quality?

Correct Math?
$1199 - 10% unidays = 1079.10 + taxes
Then get 10% ebates of $107.91
+ get the dell promo card

If someone has a UNIDAYS coupon, please PM me with it. :)
I'm thinking of grabbing this laptop.

It comes down to this price fairly frequently it seems. I bought this laptop on April 30 for the same price. I used Unidays and ebates.
decent computer, plays games well, but does get fairly loud when I'm playing

finger print reader is surprisingly effective.

thanks for the review.

the price is warmish but 10% ebates makes it hot imo (usually ebates is 2% for dell laptops).

I got this a few months ago for 1260 all in and love it. The fans barely run most of the time and only ramps up when gaming. It's not quiet but definitely not as noisy as a lot of other gaming laptops.

Screen isn't really as bad as some reviews say. Mine came with 2 x 4gb ram but reps say it should be 1 x 8gb.

I don't edit videos or compile code so the i5 is plenty fast for me. Handles all my games like a champ but I heard games like skylines and some shooters that are cpu intensive will be limited by this cpu.

If you buy this make sure you call Dell after you receive it and say you want to return. They will usually offer you 60 bucks to keep it.

Can confirm, I was offered $50 to keep my XPS 15 (I refused).

This is a pretty decent machine for the price!

Been out of the notebook/computing game for a couple years. Looking for a laptop for my son... some video editing, some gaming, good battery life, nice screen... does this fit the bill if I can snag the UNIDAYS discount as well?

I think the deal is dead. I had it in my cart from last night and now the price went up and when I try to re-add the deal it doesn't add anything to the cart.

Yup, deal is dead. It still shows $1199.99 but jumps up to $1548.99 when you add it to the cart. Not to worry - this configuration seems to go on sale relatively regularly.
