The Inspiron 1150 is $1050, which is about $100 cheaper than it has been.
Trying to decide if I want to buy it or maybe a 600m... thoughts?

I'm surprised the Axims aren't on sale. Only difference is FREE shipping instead of $10 shipping.

If the links don't work, you'll need to either disable Norton Internet Security or remove linksynergy from your hosts file.

There was another RFD forum where the same question was asked. Can't recall which one. Anyway, here is my 2 cents worth.
I have used Toshiba, Compaq, Dell & IBM. I rank them as IBM/Toshiba, Compaq and then Dell. The Dell has more plastic than my 14 year old car's dashboard. I did not like the Dell one bit.
I cannot comment on their customer service as I have never used it. I would only buy a Dell if I get an extemely hot deal - else my money would go to either a Toshiba (more than likely) or an IBM (quite expensive - still a good choice). Hope this helps!
All the best!

I currently have an IBM t40 and have no problems with it and the customer service has been A+. I once ordered a restore cd from them on sunday, it was at my door tueday morning, also the representative was extremely helpfull. But this time around i want more power at a lower price.

Once you've used a Thinnkpad (esp X series), you'll never be able to be satisfied by a Dell laptop. There is no comparison.
As for cust service, no experience with Dell as our corporate plan takes care of any problems and instantly swaps the laptop. But my experience with Axim service has not been good. The CSRs are courteous and try to be helpful. But they are not helpful. Though the RMA process is very good.

Not really super good deals (comparng to the deals over the past 3 months). The only one that is super hot is the 1150, but it's obvious Dell is trying to clear these out now and that they will be introducing a new 1100 line. Doesn't mean the price isn't smoking though. This is what I configured:
Dell Inspiron 1150 Notebook
Mobile P4 Processor 2.80GHz w/ 15" XGA
512MB DDR SDRAM (2 DIMMS)
40GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive
24X CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive
Dell Wireless 1350 (802.11b/g, 54mbps)
Integrated Network Card / 56K Modem
96 WHr 12-cell Lithium-Ion Battery
Nylon Backpack Carrying Case
1 CompleteCare Warranty
$1,088
That is at least $100 cheaper than any other 1150 ever, and no useless stuff either. The kicker is though, that you can take advantage of the warranty offer and for $131 upgrade to a 3 year in-home / complete care warranty (the best warranty possible / $399 value). Never thought I'd be able to order a Dell laptop for $1219 with this many options and a 3 year completecare inhome warranty.

IMO, if you go for a DELL, choose its Latitude,
and 3 yr warranty (limited or complete care) is a must!
I just requested a driver CD for my Dimension 3000,
the CSR denied my request coz she said now DELL
use a "new feature" -- the hidden partition for fast
recovery, no driver CD needed. just re-sent the request
or they will get a very impressive feedback in the
service survey

This thread reminds me of that PowerEdge 400SC deal last year. Now that was a deal...
