[Dell] Dell Inspirion 5000 15 AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 8G RAM, 1 Tb HD @ $532 after discount and 4% ebate

This seems like a pretty good deal to me. The AMD Ryzen 5 processor is equivalent to an Intel i5-8250U. This includes a CD-DVD burner for anyone who happens to want one + a fingerprint reader.

Price right now is $579.99, Ebates code $25OFF$500PC knocks off $25 & ebates 4% cash back gets the price down to around $532 before HST. This seems like a pretty good price for a budget laptop.

Is the Vega 8 on this thing the same as Ryzen 3 2200G Vega 8?

Yes, it's the same GPU as far as I can tell.

just keep in mind that you are going to be extremely disappointed with the performance of this laptop.

although it is seem like a decent price with good specs, there is one thing that you need to zoom into that will drag this laptop's performance to the ground.

1 TB @ 5400 RPM. I don't understand why they still make these HDD, but you need to factor in another 150 - 200 HDD upgrade to SSD in order to get the full performance expected from this laptop.

the Sound quality is another that the make a big deal about but seems to disappoint, but this is minor compared to the HDD issue.

This is absolutely true of this & most other sub $850 laptops. I guess they make these because they're cheap, but you're right that there's a big performance jump with a SSD.

Link?

I like this laptop if the Vega 8 is the same as the desktop version. It can play e-Sport games not problem at 1080p.

As for the HDD, if I am not mistaken, there is a M.2 slot that is available for you to slap one in. Or completely remove the HDD and install a 2.5 inch SSD.

Don't believe there's a display connector. Anyone know the HDMI version (guessing less than 2.0)?

The lack of monitor connectivity really holds back these Inspirons. The iGPs are more than capable of running 3440x1440 and 4K monitors, but the ports don't allow it. Major bummer.

Yes, it supports M.2. I have this laptop and am waiting for the Samsung 970 Evo to drop in price.
After using it for the past few weeks, the specs look great on paper. But it does run warm, sluggish due to the HDD.
With the price being so low, adding a decent M.2 SSD (OEM SSDs are rebadged Hynix/Samsung chipsets) will still keep you under the $700 mark.
I have no complaints with this laptop solely due to the price being around $500.
