It's pretty good for counterstrike if you can deal with the low refresh, you can see wider than everyone else

I game on mine and I don't mind the 60hz. Gives an advantage in most games as you can see wider than others. Watching movies is amazing as pretty much all movies are shown ultrawide. Just set it to 2.39:1 and fills the entire screen. Backlight bleed only shows if you max out the brightness. I usually have my brightness below 20-30% so don't notice it at all.

most movies are in 21:9, as for youtube video there is a chrome addon to make the video fullscreen
as for the 60hz, the U3415W can be overclocked to 75hz and MOST game support 21:9 now...
I bet you never had an ultrawide monitor....

not everyone play 5 years old game or have 3k to put on a pc.maximummango wrote: ↑ once you get a 144hz monitor, you'll never go back
I prefer gaming @ 75hz with my 21:9 on ultra setting than having to put my Graphic level to medium.
Because let get real, not even a 1080 Can push 144 fps on ultra on most AAA games which was released year.

Yea, $40 more now ($360 discount instead of $400). I think it's still worth it if you're in the market.sneakerfan wrote: ↑ $939 now

I have an U3415W dummy. More games support 21:9 than a year ago, but many older titles do not or have limited support with bad UI scaling. I had 16:9 3007WFP before, it was much more practical for gaming and watching TV shows and youtube videos which are 16:9 (and actually larger in terms of surface area). I mean if you do a lot of production work and watch movies more than shows / youtube then U3415 is a sensible good upgrade. Otherwise, get ready for bad scaling and black bars.

a LG utrawide 29" 2560x1080 and a 23" dell ultrasharp 1080P
I sold my U3415W because it was too much to handle for my 970 in ultra for most game.
http://www.displaywars.com/29-inch-21x9-vs-23-inch-16x9
Same can be done with a 34" 21:9 and a 27" 16:9 1440P
as for the black bar when watching a youtube, like I said a plugin exist for that.
MOST hollywood movies are 21:9, I'll take the back bar on both side anytime instead of having a blackbar at the top and bottom when watching a movie on a 16:9 monitor.

Picked up this monitor a couple months ago during the last sale + 5% Dell GC + 10% ebates. First monitor had issues after 1.5 months and I got a new one delivered within 1 day of calling in.
I really don't have another ultrawide to compare do as I'm upgrading from a regular 24inch Monitor so for me it's been amazing so far. Have yet to try gaming yet which will come soon as I'm in the middle of building a rig capable of gaming right now. I've read a ton of comments as I was doing research about gaming on this monitor while some say it's fine and some others bash the hell out of it.
While I have yet to game on this I'll say this, if you're generally one of those picky or some would say (I just have high standards), you know the type, "omg I'm only getting "x" FPS this is brutal, omg 60hz, I must use a mechanical keyboard etc etc then this monitor likely won't be for you. If you're like me who really can care less about some frame tearing etc etc then for the price what other ultrawide comes close? I'm a non serious gamer, the game plays, I can see on the monitor, I'm good so I know i'll be having hella fun gaming on this thing.

The ultrawide plugin either crops or stretches, neither is really that great of an option.sobig wrote: ↑ I sold my U3415W because it was too much to handle for my 970 in ultra for most game.

Moving from 30 inch 16:10 to 34inch 21:9:
http://www.displaywars.com/34-inch-21x9 ... inch-16x10
Without crop, it's the equivalent of downsizing to 14% smaller viewing area for 16:9 content.
http://www.displaywars.com/27-inch-16x1 ... inch-16x10
I mean you do you but I have a hard time imagining most people watching more 21:9 content than 16:9 (tv shows, online videos etc). And unlike moving from 4:3, there is absolutely no chance content creators outside of film will switch to 21:9 ratio in the future. Anyway The original question was about 4k gaming, and I still think 21:9 is a bad ratio for general gaming (especially back compatibility) unless there are specific games / genres in mind with guaranteed ultrawide support.
