[Dell] Dell XPS 15 i7-7700 / FHD/16GB

http://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/dell-lap ... ements=403

Dell has the laptop on sale for 1999.99, it looks like the 10% code works on it and there is 10 ebates right now i believe

so 1800 + hst and 10 % cash back on top

is this a decent deal? can i do better?

i know its the 1080p version, but i am ok with that, i am more interested in the i7/32GB/512GB

You might as well buy an overpriced mac for 1900 before taxes.

I would get a comparable ThinkPad T470s which only weights 2.9 LB at around 1700 after newsletter signup.

I got the 4k touch i5 128gb version myself over the summer. Would highly recommend, it's very light and seems to be quite sturdy over my few months of light yet daily use. Would recommend a good case for it as it may scratch otherwise. I believe there are skins for the XPS available but I opted for a Thule case myself!

Lots of info on the laptops on r/Dell if you want to do more research and avoid buyer's remorse :)

I don't see how they are comparable at all?.T470s only has a i7-7600U which is a dual core processor vs the quad core in the xps 15. Also the xps 15 has a dedicated mid level graphics cards. These two products are actually quite different.

I have a 4k Dell and I'd never go back to 1080p. 4k is that much better since you are sitting close to the screen. Everything just looks much crisper

The T470 uses an i7 U series and not an i7 HQ series. The HQ are significantly stronger than the the regular 2 core/ 4 thread U series chips instead being 4 cores / 8 threads (for the i7s). The XPS 15 at the higher end is a much stronger/faster/capable computer.

I bought an XPS 13 1080p laptop recently and I realized I can buy the larger resolution panel as a part and swap them out because the parts are likely compatible across all models. I may be mistaken on this matter, but it seems that it could work for both the XPS 13 and XPS 15. I would have to look further into the matter.
