Cold deal. I would never buy a Casio Camera....
research on http://www.dpreview.com and you will find that Casio's are just ok.
For the money you are better off to go with a Lumix.
2001Audiovideo has a better deal on the Lumix with the same features
plus Leica Lens....

One time I heard Canon made lens for Casio (Casio QV 300). Panasonic has Leica lens but at the low end of the Leica so it is not better than any cameras in the same class.

Casio
I have one and with the exception of a little trouble focusing in low light conditions(like a lot of them) it's really is a great camera. Credit Card small and a mint screen.
Good deal.

The Canon SD1000 for $169.99 @ Staples (using $30 coupon) is better and cheaper.

I have this casio as well and for the size and price nothing else seems to match. I just use it for casual photos and am by no means a professional photographer. But for the person that is going to use it for vacations and pull it out of the drawer a couple times a month it is a great camera. Sure it is not going to stack up against a canon SD series with image stabilization for image quality but then again the canon cost twice as much as a good deal on this camera.
As far as the lens goes mine has a pentax lens. It says it in the owners manual, if they used pentax exclusively on all their cameras they would probably promote the lenses that they use so my guess would be that it varies from model to model. Pentax have a long history in the camera industry but I am no pro and don't know their quality.
One of the nicest things about the camea is the battery life. I went away for two weeks and the camera made it the whole time without a recharge. As a previous poster said the image quality in low light situations is where it may not compare to the premium priced models.
There are all kinds of apple to orange comparisons that you can make for larger cameras (like the lumix, 50% thicker) but like most of you i did my research and in the ultra compact segment this was the best value. That being said I paid less just over a year ago so I would not call this a hot deal. I paid $150 at future shop, one of those deals on the front page. I believe I have seen it around that prices since as well.

The Canon SD1000 (no image stabilization, but good technique along with camera's high ISO's make that a moot point) is CHEAPER than this deal.

You get an ultra-compact, genuine Canon, 3rd+ generation processor, camera for only $169.
Also, the Canon is one of the few ultra-compacts that still offers an optical viewfinder for those too bright or too dim situations.
I'm sure the Casio is a good camera, but why not buy something better for less money?

i have the older (Casio) 5 MP version. i love it. the only thing i'd like more is if it had image stabilization and more optical zoom. but in a package this small, you'd be hard pressed to find one. also it starts up super fast. 1.8 sec. and has a loooong battery life.
