Refurbio usually has better deals on refurbs.
Was gonna mention that. $311 gets 8gb version of this. $337 gets you 8GB and replaces the HDD with 128gb SSD.

Also you might save on PST.

2 laptops purchased from them last year and no issues. Will recommend them to most friends.

Good specs but not a good deal for refurb. Battery is a question mark that's 100 bucks for a non exploding genuine replacement.

These are a thick chunky laptop but the plastic parts can break easily around the corners. As another person mentioned 5 plus years old now, I think I had one of these 2 laptops ago at work.

1 year warranty is a plus. If you don't need ultra portability and can spring another $100 for a small ssd and another 4gb of ram it's a decent unit.

Imho the back to school deals on new units will probably be worth looking at instead.
I disagree with the "thick chunky laptop but the plastic parts can break easily around the corners". Latitude cases are magnesium-reinforced aluminum. My E6540 is years old now (it came with Windows 7) but still rock solid. To be fair, I don't carry it around every day and it only travels in a padded backpack or suitcase, so I don't know how it would stand up to being dropped or banged around, but I've owned and used other laptops and this one is very sturdy and has great fit & finish in comparison.

Here's a review that discusses the case:

I got this laptop for a relative years ago and it's going strong. Easy to service and upgrade without taking the whole thing apart, lots of metal in the casing, and parts are easy to find.

Ohhhh I can chime in on this laptop. I had this laptop for I think about 3-4 years issued to me at work. It's built like a tank in terms of the hinges, keys, etc.. but within that time frame it went through two batteries and it was mostly connected to a dock charging most of the time. Also eventually the power button/and or motherboard was starting to fail. Probably a capacitor or something. It would take maybe 30-40 tries to turn on, The fans would whirl and it would blow some air. Eventually it would turn on. But also eventually it stopped turning on all together and they had to get me a replacement. I'm not sure I'd buy a refurb of a laptop that old. It will probably die.
