where & how much is this model avail elsewhere? I'm curious what the regular price on this is and where to get it. It has all the specs I wanted so it's worth more than $400 to me.

Got an email this morning saying the order is delayed, called them up and the "service" department said that they oversold and since it was no longer being manufactured, they will cancel the order. They then said to call sales, tell them what happened and they can do something. guess what, they having nothing comparable, and cannot budge on their prices.

I had one in my cart to order when the price changed...spoke to chat and never ended up getting an answer. Spent over an hour on the phone will Dell reps today asking for a corporate office address to write a letter about the run around they all gave me. Nobody could provide anything. Terrible service.

Looks like that answers it for me too.
I'm still waiting for one of these idiots to provide me with a contact address for Dell Corporate where I can submit a formal complaint about the way my call was handled today (transferred 7 times and got no answer - was eventually 'disconnected')

Customer Service told me to call sales .... Sales manager telling me to call customer service. Crappy service.

LMFAO. I spoke to the exact same rep while I was trying to place my original order and the price changed while I was checking out.
I'm speaking with her manager now. I told him at this point I don't care about the TV I just want a mailing address to write to and he said he doesn't have one.
As a MANAGER in the company he does not have the address for his headoffice? BS.

Called customer care, they said very clearly they do not have access to the software to place an order or apply a discount. Even if he wanted to, they just do not have the ability.
Then I quoted the "case #" back to Lealyn R, and she said customer care must be wrong! I am giving up on dell.

Depending on your viewing distance, you won't see much of a difference between 1080p vs 720p on tv's less than 50". There's a chart that relates to that. Again, this is a topic of relativity as some people feel that they can see the difference regardless.
Whether it is pointless or not depends on your usage as well. For people who uses the tv as a monitor, 720p maxes at 1366 x 768
resolution but for 1080p, you get 1900 x 1280.
At 32" for this price, I will definitely be happy with picking up a brand new Sharp Aquos 42" 1080p for $330

I just want to get their headoffice contact at this point to express my disgust.
I'm in the market for a new desktop and laptop right now (I've always bought from Dell) and I'll be sure to include in my letter a reference to my account with them and that they will not be getting anymore of my business.
Too bad I don't have my old I.T. job anymore. If I did I would look for an alternate supplier at work as well.

Yeah I got the same "5 day" email today as well, too bad as I was really looking forward to this. And honestly the $300 price tag is NOT that amazing of a deal when compared to the larger sized TV pricing these days... especially if this is a 2010 model clearout.

I think you're wrong XDR. Show me a larger tv with all the exact same specs for this price or close to this price. I don't think you'd find one because I've looked for years and have not seen one before. http://www.plasma.com/sharplcd/lc32ls510ut.htm

Looks like Dell will start losing my business if I don't end up getting this either. I have always had great experiences with Dell and although I've heard these stories before, it has never happened to me personally (until maybe the very near future). I flag something like this as a act disloyalty to your customers and thus no need to be loyal to them (Dell) either (especially, from what I am hearing, they aren't doing any satisfactory to make up for their mistakes either). Good luck to everyone who tried to order one (and myself).

I think you misunderstood me, I was merely pointing out that in a larger size, there are plenty of choices with similar specs that are not that expensive. Most people buy TV's based on size and picture quality, so a 50" TV will be more than double the viewing area of a 32" panel (1068.25 inches² vs 437.55 inches² on 16x9 content) and the quality on a 1080p LG plasma should be pretty good.. at least based on my personal experience. This exact 50" TV that I'm talking about is at Best Buy right now for $600.
Comparatively priced for the size, the 50" plasma is probably a better deal based on bang for the buck. The main reason 32" 1080p sets are still expensive is because they are rare due to the fact that most 32" sized panels are 720p. It's a smaller market for the 32" 1080p segment and therefore priced higher.
Also, one of the reasons this deal was hot is due to the lack of the environment fee.

Just bounced around Dell customer care, after a few people a supposed manager told me that the item is deactivated as "the vendor never supplied the listed item" and "there will be no future stock on any deactivated items". They pretty much told me they were going to cancel the order (regardless of what my wishes were) due to them "not expecting to have it in stock again" ... or even having stock in the first place?

Just to close the loop on this, Dell did have stock on this TV. Mine arrived within 2 days of ordering and it had a manufacturing date of August 2010 so it looks like it indeed was a 2010 model year closeout. The picture quality is pretty good (not as good as say the Sears Samsung Series 6 - LN40D630 price error back a few months ago which has an absolutely stunning picture ... thanks again PacoDX!), and as a PC monitor it's quite crisp and vibrant particularly thru HDMI. It was a legitimate deal, great value overall for the money, and it's a shame that the stock turned out to be so limited.
